Okay, here's a hypothetical question for you all. For whatever reason (must sell, house on fire, spouse says they go or you go [I know, I know you'll really miss your spouse!;)] etc.) you can only keep one vehicle, set or figure from your King & Country collection. Which do you choose?
 
Lets see I'm 70 years old. Going to have give up dirving in the near future and to old to get married again.
Now whats the question again?
 
I'd keep the Winter Tiger. It's an obvious answer but it's a great set that stands alone with vehicle and figures.
 
They will pry my collection from my cold dead fingers. There is no way I could chose just one set, vehicle or aircraft. The fun of collecting is accumulating a collection. One set just wouldn't do it for me.
 
Must have been a slow day at Treefrog or the Reuss household:)
 
I agree with Louis, it would be no fun just having one set, but if it did come to saving just one I would keep my winter 88.
Then I would keep sending my wife into the burning house to retreve as many other sets she could till she collapsed.

Nicely put Gary since your wife never reads this forum. I'd have to agree though.Its probably harder to replace a Winter 88 than a new wife.Ooh thats gonna fire up some members. Anyone got an extra one kicking around.An 88 that is :D :D
 
I would choose the Krupp truck set. It, along with two others just like it, were the first K&C I bought. I ordered it off the K&C site in Hong Kong, paid the extra shipping cost; and then, learned that I was not as happy as I thought I was - other dealers were offering free shipping and I can get more men and equipment for less money!!!

But to me, the Krupp set just seems to me to demonstrate the art of K&C. The truck itself is well done, I would have put clear wind shields on it but thats just me, and the men are great also. Their expressions and the detailing are wonderful. If not the Krupp then anyone of the figures from WWII or the Napoleonics, I love'm all. Forgetit, I will not choose. Kill me first. :)

Not necessarily a hypothetical question. For my recent hurricane evacuation I was faced with this dilemma. Here is my wife packing essentials, important papers etc.. and here I was standing and starring at my curios filled with K&C figures. Really felt rather foolished but hey, they're K&C. At least all on this forum understand. My biggest problem was not having the time to go in the attic and search through all those boxes to find the appropriate box for a given figure. I didn't want to damage something in transit by not having the box for it. So, flustered I just left them all behind. Next time I think I'll probably take my new winter Tiger since I have yet to unpack it (not to mention its a great piece).
 
As a single person I'd probably have to think of a hypothetical house on fire situation. (Any single gals on this Forum can bring me K&C as a dowry!).

I'd really miss quite a few sets if running from the burning building. (I rotate and sell every few years so some of the older sets become nicer in memory with the passage of time. On the other hand it also means I don't have a Smeagol/Gollum thing going for a 'precious' one). I'd say that my charred corpse would be found with armfuls of K&C but the set that I'd be grasping hardest at present would be the WS62 tank riders. I just love them with the WS50, WS58 sets and the WS67 King Tiger. At present 2 of the WS62 figures don't even kneel on the tank, I just use them as they are.
 
Wife is already trained in starting the Harley Davidsons. One thing I have learned in my 35 years of collecting. Anything, can be replaced. I know this because I once found a Lionel Standard Gauge Blue Comet and then a week later I pulled a second one from a house only a few blocks from my own back in New Jersey. So I say to all enjoy your collections and never worry anything at all can be replaced.

Let me give you a trick for the next Hurricane. Go buy some of those big plastic bins from Home Depot or Menards. Take your foam out of your green boxes or go buy some packing materials for padding. Layer the foam/packing material in the bins with your figures, you can do multiple layers in one bin.

Saves time and is an easy way to transport a ton of your KC soldiers/ vehicles all at once without having to mess around with the boxes.
 
That is a good idea Warbuff26. I am definitely going to have to incoporate something of this nature in my Hurricane Evacuation plan. I hope, after I'm done packing these along with all other essentials in the van, my wife is going to have some place sit.:eek:

Thanks for the excellent traveling idea. I'm fixing to move, so I have been wondering what would be the best way to move all the troops. The method you have described, sounds like an excellent way to pack large numbers of figures very quickly.

Do any other members have other suggestions about easy, but safe ways to move hundred of figures.
