I am curious why there is a white semi-circle line painted below the eyes of each figure in this series? I love the sets but have never seen this done before. You can see it in the photos below.

Brings a whole new meaning to 'wait to you see the Whites of their eyes'.^&grin. It does not seem to detract from the figure from what I can see, Randy. Cheers Robin.

Perhaps an idiosyncrasy of the factory/painters doing this particular series? -- Al

I don't really see it in the photos, but I suspect it's the painter's attempt to highlight a raised area on the figure's face. Most people have a bit of a bag under their eyes, and in painting a face, I would use my flesh color for the lower eyelid, a little shadow below, and then a highlight color again, for that raised area. It can blend into the cheekbone, too. Anyway, that's what I expect it's supposed to be.

Prost!
Brad

Could it be an attempt to show the reflection of light off the top of the cheek?

Thank you all for your responses including the funny ones.
I love the figures anyhow. I am collecting the Canadian sets. I like the brown coats:salute::

It is a highlight. This type of effect, when magnified look odd, but add to the miniature when viewd without magnification.

Looking forward to a New Hampshire regiment with their light blue coats and perhaps a figure of Enoch Poor.

Here is the New Hampshire 2nd Regt. Hope John will make some of these:smile2:

Created with the 1st NH Regt. in the winter of 1776 and served until March 1782,
when the New Hampshire line was reorganized.
At least one company wore light blue coats faced with red and lined with white
