White Island Eruption in NZ (1 Viewer)

Yesterday afternoon in NZ, White Island erupted without warning when 47x tourists were visiting the popular tourist destination.

The result has seen at least 5x persons have died with 8x still missing who are also believed to have died.

At least 30 visitors were rescued by helicopters and tourist boat operators, many badly injured.

This really makes me shudder. Most of the victims were Australians, some were teenage children. It's exactly the sort of thing I'd have thought interesting enough to do myself.

An ugly incident and tragic for those involved. It's a small world as amongst the injured is a Germantown, Md. couple, both seriously burned. They were on their way to visit their son in Australia. I do not know the couple involved, but they are from my hometown. I wish all a full recovery and condolences for those lost in this eruption. -- Al
