Hey - I wanted to start a Fields of Battle Thread and see who out there collects FOB ?

I bought a few months ago an entire FOB collection at a great price. It is still sitting in a big box - not sure where I can display it - yet

But, who else has an FOB Collection and hopefully we can see some of these collections on the forum !

I really not sure how many of the individual figures I have - but, I know I have the two tanks and the two horse guys. I wonder when Andy will start making some "shooting" Germans to shoot back at the British and French guys ??

Hi,

I've been collecting K&C for going on a year since running across them on a vendor website while checking the line I was collecting at the time (Dragon Armor), but this would be my first post. My previous exposure to toy soldiers would be the Britains at the local hobby shop. The detail and realism of the K&C line is what hooked me. They are excellent.

I have a number of French and British from the FOB line, and really enjoy them, they are well done. It is one of the lines I'd like to collect most of the releases from, along with the 8th Army and Afrika Korps lines. I have been playing catch up (or keep up?) with retired items that I like, but would be concentrating on FOB once I do catch up. Some early Wehrmacht troops would be appreciated though, as the WS110-WS115 SS are about the only early Germans I could find.

Take care, -Rich

WELCOME to the Forum !

You will find a great amount information about your interests here.

I am sure you will also find a great number of WWII Collectors here - the disease of WWII is running rampant

LOL - anyway - what do have in your FOB Collection ?

Ron

Hi Ron,

Thank you for the welcome. I've had the WWII disease on and off for about thirty years. Used to build my own back then, but have since retired my paints and airbrush (well, except for the odd K&C touch up). :)

In the FOB line I currently have FOB002, 6, 7, 8, 11 and 20 (smattering of French, British and the German Kubelwagen). With each new dispatch though I seem to get diverted off course to pick up a retired item! I've been collecting WW1, WW2 and AWI, but mostly focused on WW2 (which my son enjoys as well).

Take care, -Rich

Greetings all. I collect FOB French & German. Early war Germans have been done but I believe they are all retired now. These included ws038 (MG34), ws39,40 which were infantry, and ws041 (MK2 tank). There were others but I do not have those. LAH o63 (MK1 tank) can also be used. Also the new KC Waffen SS sets are early war type cammo and weapons, as well as the early war Fallshirmjagers in the non-camo jump suits. There is a large selection of Germans available. The early war Stug III is a great model as is the MK. IV. We could use some more of the French Armor though. -- lancer

Hi i switched my interest on Crimea and AWI but i have a fair number of FOB figures and a tank..they are really well made (obviously the sculpt but i'm referring to the choice of the poses),i like the idea of the early war and of the French Army , unfortunately my dream in this series (alternatively FOB 009 and 010 was retired time ago), i hope to buy in the next future the remaining Royal Navy figures, they are really good!By the way here's my FOB collection:
FOB002
FOB005
FOB012
FOB021
FOB023
FOB025
FOB037
FOB049
FOB051
FOB052
FOB053

I like the WS038-WS042 sets, but for some reason I associate bread bag straps with Operation Barbarossa. This is most likely a left over from some earlier kits I ran across in the 1/35 or 1/6 world. I'm thinking similar to WS093 and WS095 in regards to uniform (helmet decals, sleeves down, early war uniforms), but in a variety of poses. I have the Stug and Mk. IV in the desert series, but might get the Mk. IV in FOB, as there are some differences, and I like the grey color scheme.

The Fallschirmjagers look very nice, and I hope to add some of them soon. I have a couple of the early war SS sets from last year, and they are well done as well. More French and British vehicles would be a nice addition.

Take care, -Rich

I have some of the British FOB and I think they're great. I really like the sculpting and posing of the figures. Hopefully they'll be coming out with more. It would be nice to see them do another FOB for maybe the Italian theater or somewhere in the Pacific.

I've collected some of the FoB Brits in the past, however this past week I ordered my first French FoB figure FoB 018. I am really taken with FoB 037, the Renault R35 Tank so
it will probably be my next purchase in this series.

I have all of the FOB vehicles except the Polizei Armored Car, and I have a few of the other sets, which I use with the flat Normandy Village facades and the early war Germans on a fall of France shelftop diorama.

I have a few of the vehicles I want to get the set with the Early War Stug. That will probably be my next for FOB purchases. Hope they dont retire these that fast. :)

I saw some actual early war footage of what appears to be one of those Polizie armored cars, or an almost identical variant, rolling through what looked like a Polish town. It brought the whole lack of "Eastern Front" representation to mind and I got to wondering if there is much interest in some FoB Polish sets?

The Polizei Armored Car produced by K&C was used in the first hours of the war..in the assualt on the post office in Danzig, the soldiers operating and fighting alongside it are members of the Heimwehr Danzig , a special corp formed by the nazi authorities in the city..the post office members put up great resistence but were overthrowed and paid with their lives (i don't know if there were survivors). The Armored Cars bore all names of Landers and cities if i remember.

I've got the original Char B and the Vickers tank plus all the action posed British troops. I'd like to get the Bedford lorry eventually too and maybe if finaces allow - the grey stug and Pz.IV.
FOB is a great series but maybe it's time to move onto a new theme. How about focusing on the early commando raids?

We talking St. Nazaire? That good be an interesting subject, what with the MTB's and the HMS Campbeltown and the commandos running loose. I believe that the commandos wore white webbing for identity purposes. Anyone know for sure? -- lancer

I collect them, but kind of have some other figures mixed in with FOB...

Hi rich, just to let you know, the early war german paras look a lot better in person and would be ideal for the fighting in holland or belgium
