I was just wondering who is collecting the new Civil War figures from King & Country. What does everyone have ?

I almost have all the Confederates - still have none of the Union figures - yet ;)

I think these are great figures figures and a wonderful improvement over the last release back in 1999.

I've gotten many of the Union ones and just received, courtesy of Shannon, several of the Confederate ones, which I think are really nice, because of the differences in uniform.

I am hoping for some artillery next year but we'll have to see.

Brad - Are you going to get all of the figures or select here and there ??

The one thing I like about the Union Uniforms is you can develop a great looking firing line with them. Unfortunately, you cannot do that with the Rebs - because you would have 6 - 10 guys all with a rip or patch on the left knee

Don't get me wrong - they all look great - but we need some "new recruits" in brand new Grey Uniforms to create a firing line - that doesn't look weird. ;)

I have all the new Confederate ones, none of the new Union. The Union are on the back burner until I catch up.
I do have all of the origional Union & Confederates.

All I have is the Pennsylvania flagbearer, which I like a lot. I probably won't buy the rest of the Union because I already have a Little Round Top setup with the 20th Maine, and they wouldn't go so well with The Angle diorama I have been working on for a long time. I definitely plan on buying several of the Confederates. Do any of you have any favorites of the ones you have bought or seen in person? Just from the photos, I really like all of the ones in action, plus Jeb Stuart (already have the Frontline version though) and the Confederate bugler. I agree about the patches though - certainly a lot had patched clothing, but it is overdone. Another thing is that the Union guys had better equipment in general, but certainly they had worn clothing too.

What I would absolutely love to see someone make is a set of flagbearers for the 69th Pennsylvania (the national and green regimental flag) and maybe also the 72nd and 71st Pennsylvania. I am surprised that as many times companies have made Irish Brigade flags, they have never made the 69th's. Very useful for anyone doing Pickett's Charge, and I know a lot of people do those setups.

I would like to see more Union Generals. They need a few more guys on horseback and a number of generals because as of right now there is no one to speak of. Hopefully in the near future there are a couple of new figures for the Union side and it will make this series much more enjoyable.

I agree with that for sure. I really need to add a little leadership to the Union side of my Pickett's Charge setup. Right now, they are at a loss for what to do next. I would like to see colonels and generals, on horseback, and on foot, directing soldiers to their positions. Speaking of horses, a dead horse or two would be extremely useful for any diorama.

I started collecting Confederate figures about a month ago and to my surprise I'm more interested in this series now than any other. I just wish there were more figures actually firing. Out of the two batches of Confederate releases only two figures are actually firing, CW019 and CW021. I hope we get some more dramatic poses in future, too. It seems like only Remember the Alamo and Medieval get the high action poses for some reason.

One minor disappointment, I wish Jeb Stuart had not been released yet, at least not as is. I would have preferred to see him with other Calvary in a charge mowing down Union infantry.

I'm not crazy about the Union figures mainly because the color of blue on the shirts and pants just don't look right to me. Maybe they will grow on me. I do hope more Union figures are made though including some personality figures, mainly Sherman and Buford. I also hope we get some cannon sets.

More than anything, I'd love to see some Zoaves. I know Collectors Showcase has some, with great poses too, but you just can't beat K&C sculpting and painting.

Kurt,

If you want a cavalry charge cutting down infantry, you need to get your hands on this set from Conte and Don Troiani. You will probably have to watch for it on Ebay, but I have seen it in person, and it is extremely nice looking - better than the photos.

I had this set once. It's called First at Manassas and it's a 1861 battle. It actually 2 sets. It's very hard to find both sets. Are the KC figures 54mm or 60mm.I would like to get the Stuart and Forrest figures if they are 54mm.

Only one of the Federals and two of the Confederates. I may pick up a couple more of the union figures but I would prefer figures in more standard uniforms. I'm not fond on the yellowish butternut uniforms on the Confederates -- it seems to me that the color should be more of a light brown/khaki color.

What I would really love to see is a set of John Buford's cavalry troopers, dismounted, on the first day at Gettysburg. I'd probably buy all of those.

I have all of the Confederates, and a few of the new Union figures. I realize that the Union uniforms are correct, but they just don't say civil war to me. I'm sure I will eventually get them all though because I have no self control.

I thought I had read that they were supposed to be 54mm, but mine seem pretty close to 60mm. I put them side by side with a few CW from Conte, and the K&C figure was taller. It was similar to the K&C Afrika Korps (came with the Tunisian Tiger) and 2nd Ranger figures. I think if you put one or two in a diorama, but not side by side with Conte, it probably could fit in. I am planning to do that.

I have all of the old series K&C Confederates. These had very good, unique and interesting poses. I especially like the pair where one guy is handing ammo to another while lying on the ground under fire. This is what makes a diorama come to life! Gives it that extra something from the usual standard poses. I only have one Confederate of the new series, so far. The mounted flagbearer. Haven't bought any of the Union from either series although, I do like the new Union. As mentioned in a prior message, it would be great to have Buford with his dismounted calvary and artillery defending the high ground on the first day at Gettysburg. That hasn't been done before and would make a great diorama!:)

Ron,

I am planning on getting them all, over time. I like the firing line idea and may try to do that.

I really think Andy will have lots of great releases with this range. Britians have done pretty well with their release of the newer CW figures (they look great too!) - Andy will put the usual K&C magic on them and we will really have something.

On the Union Figures - it took me a while to get my brain around the different looking uniforms - but, the more I looked at them - the more I like them. It will look great with my other guys and stand out in the collection. Historically correct makes them an interesting show piece.

I am hoping that K&C will do surrendering figures with the CW Range ! ;) I don't think any manufacturer has done surrendering figures before in Matte? This would be really cool  - most battles did have men on both sides captured. It would add a different aspect to the collection. IMHO. :)

There is no reason to collect K&C CIVIL WAR figures,, There are already enough companies that do fine 1/32 scale CW.

There are other companies, but K&C has the best sculpting and painting. K&C's only weakness in this series is their sedate poses. Despite this, they are still the best overall in my opinion.

Although there are many other companies that make fine figures, such as Conte and Britains, the K & C figures are very good and I'm trying to scratch my head why you would say this. I think there is a market for them and I've purchased many of them and like them. Your statement was on top of your earlier also controversial statement about glossies so I'm wondering why this second statement needed to be made. I know you like WW II, as do I, but collectors are not one dimensional people.

I would but all of those but need to put my money on WWII and Naps... and these new guys cost more than 4 for 89$ !!!

Cheers,

Alex
