Only a little over a month away these two birds will be flying in....

They are sure beauties. Who will be getting one or both?
Ludwig
I would think than our very own warbird loving TF member, Lawrence "LO" would be buying a Squadron of these kites for his entire family/namesake! Great looking kites indeed.
Beau~
I ordered both a while back. I will decide when they come whether to keep one or both. I couldn't make up my mind!! I am really looking forward to finally adding another WWII plane to the overflowing hangar
Would like to but am taking a beating trying to keep up with the WWII aircraft ! {sm5}
I've ordered the Udet Albatros to go with the Voss and MVR Earlier Albatrosses and the Jacobs and Auffarth DVII's. Would have liked all 8 but need to think about the opposition planes which I'm hoping are coming out of the sun sometime soon.......
I have a 1935 copy in German of Udet's autobiography 'Mein Fliegerleben' (although I speak no German!). My first choice would have been his DVII with red and white striped upper wing, 'Lo!' on the fuselage and 'Du Docht Nicht' (not you yet?) on this ailerons...... But the silver Albatros has character too and I'm sure will be impressive in the flesh.
This is a great series and rapidly becoming my favourite!
Interesting about the famous Udet D-7 and it's color scheme. I have always thought that the upper wing was striped in red and white, too. There is a current line of thought that the stripes are actually black and white. The black and white line of thought fits in with the staffel colors of black and the Udet use of a triplane that had the same black and white striped upper wing. There also is an equally good possibility that this Fokker's fuselage was black, as well. There simply is no proof one way or the other. Red or black are both distinct possibilities. The Fokker could therefore have had a red/white striped upper wing with a black nose and red fuselage or it could have had a black/white striped upper wing with a black nose and red fuselage or it could have had a black/white striped upper wing with a black nose and a black fuselage. Very confusing and unlikely to be definitively solved as there is no written statement from Udet or other personel, and the only known photo is a partial view that doesn't solve anything. Take your pick.:wink2: -- AlI've ordered the Udet Albatros to go with the Voss and MVR Earlier Albatrosses and the Jacobs and Auffarth DVII's. Ludwig, I am passing on the new Albatri from KC, as I passed on the 3 Fokker D-7's. I did buy the red Richthofen and the Voss Albatros, but have since stuck to the JJD offerings because of certain accuracy issues with the KC planes. I'm not saying that the KC planes aren't nice, I think they have made some inspired choices in their paint choices, the Voss and new Baumer craft especially. I just like the JJD aircraft better, and I can't afford to buy both manufacturers. -- AlGreat post....just one thing missing...are you getting one or both? {sm4}
Ludwig
I have both of these on pre-order as I am big fan of WW1 planes. I have the first 3 Albatros planes and all 3 Fokker planes released by K&C.
They will be going with the rest of my John Jenkins collection of WW1 planes. I currently have all KC and JJ WW1 planes to date and can't wait for more to be released!!!
The JJD aircraft are 1/30 scale, same as KC. I own both companies Albatros models and they are almost the exact same size, with the JJD Albatros just a bit shorter overall. Wingspans are almost identical, as is height. They look very good next to each other on my shelf. -- AlGreat!! I have all the KC's as well. I have been looking at the JJ's but the scale is 54mm I think and I was worried about how noticeable it would be. What is your opinion?

Ludwig,
They fit in perfectly with each other. The only difference in my opinion is the lack of weathering on the KC planes. Other than that they display very nicely together.
I will take a couple of picture of the Albatros together and the Fokker DVII this week and post them on this thread so you can judge for yourself.
Have to go back on this. Just got the Baumer Albatros today and am generally very happy with it. It is an inspired choice because of Baumer being a lesser known ace and Blue Max winner for his 43 victories. He was known as "The Iron Eagle" and actually had his life saved by parachute. His Albatros D-5 is a great color combination with his Edelweiss marking on a red fuselage and the striking green tail of Jasta 5. KC did a great job with the colors on this craft. I am slightly disappointed in a few things such as the missing black B that should be on the bottom of the right and left lower wings but that should be easy to rectify. Impossible to fix is the error in the fuselage, which is that of the flat sided D-3, not the curved sided D-5 as it should be. I read that new molds were used for the new Baumer and Udet Albatros, so I was hoping the flat sided error of the earlier releases would be corrected. Oh well. It is still a beauty and I am glad I got it. -- AlLudwig, I am passing on the new Albatri from KC, as I passed on the 3 Fokker D-7's.
