Who wants more Axis figures? (1 Viewer)

He was a bank manager wasn't he Harry?.

Rob

Och that's right Rob. ;)
He was employed as a Bank Manager wasn't he. Well, at least, that's what Captain Mainwaring was employed as when he wasn't busy being a bumptious buffoon, pompously bullying and ordering everyone else around to his hearts content.
Loveable character wasn't he. Mrs Mainwaring was menioned a lot in the series - although I don't think she ever appeared in camera - I think the idea was that he lived in terror of the old witch and this was the reason why he was such a clown who took himself waaaaaaay to seriously in front of his peers. Wanted to be a leader - but couldn't understand why he was actually such a figure of derision. We just don't get comedy with such sharply-drawn characters these days.
Anyway, I reckon I'm on a winner with this Home Guard diorama idea. We shall see what I can come up with over the next few months.

Cheers

:D

Yeah his wife never appeared on screen,i don't think it was a passionate marriage.One of my fave lines of his was when he was asked how he'd come to learn to play the bagpipes.;

'I spent my Honeymoon in a castle in Scotland y'know,a wild and lonely place you understand,the nights were long....there was nothing else to do'!!!:D:D

To answer the original question i'd like to see more attacking AK infantry.We have the older AK inf sets including Mortar and MG Teams,but it would be nice to see some updated infantry.Not so long ago we had the 8th Army infantry sets and it would be good to have some more opposition for them.I thought the quality of these 8th Army figs was so good that it would be cool to see it repeated in Rommels troops.

I see HB are going to be doing Medics,Mine laying sets etc,will be interesting to see where K&C take their Axis figures next.

Nice one Frank, but I reckon the version of the VW with the Avenger cannon out of the Warthog ground attack aircraft has got it it beat :eek: ;)

:D:D Yeah I suppose, but there is the little issue of recoil force with that gun (9000 lbs)
