Evening JJD folks;
Slowly but surely building up my War of 1812 collection. One unusual fact that has struck me odd is the sacristy of the USCH-03 set as well as the USCH-08. Now the USCH08) I can understand (a bit) as it is a Flag bearer and they always go fast, regardless of the era or maker. But USCH03 is a simple set of two soldiers standing / loading. Anybody else see this or am I having a senior moment????

Hey Larry...I'm always glad to see someone collecting Chippawa...it's my "pet" series from JJD...it's always been my favorite...but it doesn't seem to be a favorite of the JJD collectors on this forum...however it must sell pretty well somewhere though...as more and more pieces seem to be retiring...

I would love to see pics of your collection and how you have them displayed if you would care to show them...

not to state the obvious...as I'm sure you know that USCH03 and USCH08 both are retired...as are USCH02...USCH09...USCH10...and BCH11...which is of course why they are scarce at JJD dealers...

I have a nice collection of the JJD Chippawa series...which I started collecting quite a while ago...

I like the loading set...I have multiples of it...if you're having trouble finding one...you might look at the "dealer's page" on his website...I'm pretty sure you can track down a set of these...

Michael,

Thanks for showing the collection. I knew you liked the range, but that is a lot of figures. Looks very nice. It would be really neat to see them on a large table facing off against each other. That would be one big diorama to show your entire collection, but it would look really nice.

Hi Michael

That's one serious 1812 collection you have there. I am guessing that if spread them out on some grass mats, you probably cover 6' X 6' with the artillery thrown in {sm3}

Still, that's a very impressive display you have now.

Say ... Do you know when John is going to give us more British gunners ? I have the limber team and multiple guns, but not enough gunners to go around. :redface2:

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you ... Mike that is one AWESOME collection. Something I will dream about.

I am (now) aware that they are RETIRED. I have managed to find all the BCH and most all of the USCH including the Limber and artillery sets. Of course now I know where they all went!!! ;);)

Seems USCH03 and USCH08 are the toughest, but I may have a good lead on them. Minute Man Toy Soldiers and the Hobby bunker are my local Toy Soldier dealers. George G. and Matt M. are great folks.

I am just starting my diorama this July 4th week (sorta' appropriate don't you think.) Not sure exactly yet how to setup but that is the fun part ..yes!!

I really like the 1812 series. Not sure why since they are not necessarily the most colorful of JJD series, but just really well positioned and sculpted. I am a AWI and War 1812 enthusiast. Since I live (mostly) in Boston the AWI was a perfect fit as most of the events took place in my back yard. The War of 1812 seemed like a natural extension and the JJD sets are fabulous.

I will be sure to post some pictures of my "progress" and look forward to comments to improve. Thank you for the GREAT inspiration.

Larry...if you totally stike out on finding a USCH03...I have multiples and will sell you one of mine...let me know how your search goes...you should be able to find one...would love to see how you display them....Michael

Matthew I wouldn't be surpised if Michael grants your wish but in the mean time you may want to brows throughout the JJ section of the forum with my knowing as well as others he's shared a lot of his playtime with us as he built the series. Knew it took you some time to find a place to keep them out of their boxes Michael and they sure look good in their featured home..Michael {bravo}}{bravo}}{bravo}}PapaZ

Very clever use of mirrors here Mike, to think you have made only 20 figures look like a whole army, of course no one could afford to actually have that amount of figures as the mirrors reflect. Cheers, Robin.

Thanks to you Michael, and EVRYBODY for the help in locating the JJD items. A G-R-E-A-T group of guys. I am sure I will locate them soon.

A very impressive War of 1812 collection indeed Michael . . . . very nice . . ..
:smile2: Mike

Larry...I too have just started to collect Chippewa.....I did find USCH03...but not 08.....one place you could try is Antique Center of Gettysburg no website but they are very friendly.....phone ...717 337 3669....I was there last fall and picked up some early French Monongahela pieces...

you really gotta love this series...some of the figures are still going at $26 apieice...a very good value...very affordable with all the price increases across the board from many manufacturers...

so true ......USCH01 is selling for $96.00 Ca......$24.00 a piece .....hope this doesn't start a buying frenzy ^&grin^&grin

I suppose, there is good and bad side about not being a very popular series or era. I really believe that the War of 1812 is a totally overlook period in American History. Hardly a mention in most schools these days (at least in New England); yet a very significant turning point in US Military positioning around the world. JJD has done a fantastic job in sculpting and painting the figures. But if everyone discovers these sets then they will dry faster than they already are!!!{sm2}{sm2}

Still we need JJD to continue the series with more sets for Chippawa and differnet battles of 1812. So, JJD has to see a reason to continue investment in this era.

Okay folks, until I get all the figures ...... Shhhhhhhhhhh!!:wink2::wink2:

I don't think many Canadians know much about it either ....back then we were still British......And I hope JJ keeps it going as well......^&grin

First a {sm4} BIG {sm4} Thank you for all the leads that you folks have provided. The British Army has taken the field in full force. The US forces are on the way and will be joining the British in battle very soon. They might not be at 100% full force yet, but I can assure you that the US troops present will stand firm and represent the United States well.

As soon as they arrive I will post some pics of the up coming battle.

Many Thanks Again
Larry

Larry...glad you found the pieces you needed...looking forward to your pics...I think this is one of the best series JJD has done...
