Hi
Can anyone on the forum who knows, tell me if the Conte Rogers Rangers figures will work size wise with the W Britains Clash of Empires range of Indian figures please ?
Thanks.
Steve

Conte figures are a bit bigger- thicker anyway. Also, the Conte sets seem to be painted in darker tones overall. I have lots of both- hadn't considered mixing them oddly enough.

Hi there.

Check the size of Conte Roger Rangers in comparison with W. Britain.
The Conte figures are painted in an satin finish not the deadly mat of Britains.

It very much depends on who sculpted the Conte figures, the earliest releases of the Conte Rangers and Indians are among the best figures ever, and then some of the latest are not nearly as nice. In all likelihood, just different people doing the actual art work.

The early Indian figures can be huge, much less so with the Rangers. Size wise, the rangers should work.

To my untutored eyes the figures look a decent match in terms of scale. Conte are heavier build but then that is human beings. More important is the painting style and finish. No real match there but they could be harmonised with a couple of coats of gloss varnish ^&grin

Interesting to note that the average height of males in the 17th and 18th centuries was 5 feet 5 and three quarter inches yet 54mm figures are assumed to be 6 feet tall. Will any manufacturer bring out a range of figures where there are complimentary poses but the troops are of different heights? It would be brave for sure.

Interesting, Conte's take like many of his figures are inspired by films of a bygone era and yes the headgear isn't pukka and just the wardrobe departments invention.
Still, Northwest passage is a favourite film of mine !
