The AIP sets of French and Indian war figures by John Jenkins are the best they make. I hope there will be more sets. Does anyone know?

Too late, Obee beat me to it ;)
If AIP does, it probably will be of current Frontline figs, I don't they have actually done any official John Jenkins figs. But some of Frontline's British 35th foot made in plastic would be welcome :D

I thought maybe it stood for

Abenaki Indian People...or...American Indian People...

I never would have guessed Armies In Plastic in 100 years...

I remember a thread on here a while back...maybe some of you do too...

someone was showing some plastic Indians that were uncommonly similar poses to John Jenkins Indian sculpts...

honestly...they looked like black market knockoffs...

very similar...

the gist of the post was that they were plagiarized from John's figures and being sold under another name...

thanks for clearing that up for me you guys...I was almost too embarrassed to ask...I was going to send John an email...

Armies in Plastic, an independent company, released some sets last year that featured the early sculpts by John Jenkins from the time when he worked for Frontline, Rangers and Indians.
So, the busines relationship is between Frontline and AIP and not between JJ and AIP.

Konrad...thank you...those were the pictures off the thread I was referring to...lot 5552 is obvious...

I have both Indian sets in red-brown to fight in the American War of Independence. I'm not interested in the Rangers but they are good. The "regulars" are not good. I bought one box as Hessians but no more. Weapons on some are poor but the set does have figures that make a good firing line. A few figures can be converted to Artillerymen. Too bad they aren't in Red for British. AIP is calling some colored sets Prussian, Austrian, and Russian.
Their series of American Revolution figures is pretty good BUT the Cavalry is a bust as most units worn some kind of helmet, not the "bi-corn" hat.

This FIW series in a good departure but AIP needs to get back to WW I early war British and French in forage caps, more Crimean War troops, and some American Civil War regular US troops in "sack" coats plus some US/CS cavalry and field artillery. The Heavy set can only be used for sieges.

AIP have the best Napoleonic Artilery sets....They also have a very good range of WW1.
While some of there sets have the odd wacky pose in all they are great value and paint up well.
Im hoping one day they will do Australian lighthorsmen.....they have done Indian Cav so bring on the Aussies for peats sake.

I only know of the battle at Beersheba that the Light Horse fought mounted, because I'm a Yank and only get my history from movies. Maybe AIP will do Turks, Austrians, and Italians.

I forgot that AIP does British Lancers, Uhlans and Cossacks for WW I. They do need more French besides the one set.

I notice AIP retired the WW I USMC. The plastic mix for that set was awful.

John the genleman that he is very kindly gave my son a set of the woodland indians at the spring London show. Being a geek I wanted to get him to sign the box but my son had more sense.

We also purchased a set of rangers to go with them. The only draw back is they now have joined the Conti Spartans waiting to see the paint brushes.

Regards one and all.

They did fight most of the time on foot so a set of dismounted lighthorse would be cool + plus a mounted set.
Thats ok i only know American history from what Hollywood pumps out.

ANZACS with Paul Hogan, Gallipoli, and The Light Horsemen. I think ANZACS was only shown over here on TV because of the Crocodile Dundee "craze."

Whatever happened to "JOCKO?"

OI ! You mean Mark "Jacko" Jackson, the retired Australian Rules Football player. I had to look him up on Wikepedia because I haven't seen him on TV since he did the Energizer Battery commercials back in the Eighties. He was replaced by the bunny.

That's him. Australians are cool and in the 80s even more so. I was surprised that one villain in the last Indiana Jones movie was supposed to be Australian.

There was that episode from the Simpsons where Bart offends Australia by making a return charges phone call about which way water flows down a toilet. Anyway, when the State Dept official visits the Simpsons to sort it out he makes a funny comment that Australia was a big hit in the 80s but hadn't realised that it was over.

As for the JJ Indian figures, I'd heard good things about them. Does anyone know how they match up with Barzo's Indians? I've been keen to get both and I just wanted to find out if they work well together.

Generally though I haven't been moved by AIP figures. Their range is fantastic but I always thought that their sculpting was too basic and that they didn't work well alongside other 54mm figures. Perhaps painted they fit together better but I'm not a painter......
