I've just heard the parcel of dio goodies I ordered from the good people here at TF has arrived at my local Highwaymans hideout ...sorry I of course meant Post office. Imagine my pleasure at finding not only am I being charged £8 by customs just to allow it into the country, but a further £8 for a handling charge. £16 for the crime of ordering from abroad. I fully understand the handling charge, I mean we all know just how heavy weathering powders, 1/30 scale bricks and timbers really are, and I'm sure you all realise the aforementioned words are not served up with a family size bucket of sarcasm, anger and outrage.

Mr Cameron, I look forward to your birthday tax and the much awaited looking at Trees tax.

Mate that,s BS you could of bought a TS for that.
The only prob I/We have is distant costs a fortune to post stuff here,and to send it.

The same thing happened to me Rob as I had sent off some figures to be painted by my Uk figure painter and he got whacked for the VAT of 8.00 pounds and a handling fee for the same amount.

Handling fee?

Are they just making stuff up now to shake us down for more money?

I don't know about the UK but here in Canada the handling fee is usually because they have to collect funds from the parcels recipient. We are charged $5.00.

PS I thought you were already taxed for air ? :confused::eek::p

Guys, its just gouging for the sake of it. George, I've no idea exactly what the handling fee is for, its just another rip off I'm thinking.

Rob,

Weren't you a member of this fine august organization? Darn it man, use your pull! :wink2:

Sorry,
A little late to the party :D

The handling fee of £8.00 is to cover the cost of sending a computor generated letter to you, saying you're being stuffed by customs and excise, for import duty / VAT / tea fund, whichever they feel like sticking down, dependent on what day of the week it is.

Now, £8.00 may seem a lot for this, but you've got to remember that this covers the postage cost of the letter, which Royal Mail will have to pay to.......errr......Royal Mail......no, that arguement ain't gonna hold water.

OK, it's a rip off.

Hey, you guys could've come along with us back in 1775, but you decided not to....

I think we were busy preparing for something the following year, can't remember what, but I'm sure it all went smoothly for us. {sm2}

I'm surprised you are complaining about handling fees now Rob. What did you do with all the handling fees when you worked for the Queen's Mail? {sm3}{sm4}

Terry

3 words..........King and Country :eek: :D:D:D just kidding ;)

Slander,libel, outrage! ^&grin:wink2:

Mind you, if you'd seen some of the things that went on in there you'd get in your car and drive hundreds of miles to deliver your letters in person! {eek3}

Rob

Well you think you had it bad Rob I got stopped £65.00 by custom and to top it all the Figarti item was damaged as well witch cost me extra to send back!

i was wondering why UK sales are down for me. you folks are certainly getting ripped off.

Wayne mate,
I wouldn't count your chicken before they have hatched. Postage is not the only problem we TS collectors in OZ may have to worry about soon. This pinko leftist government we have is considering reducing the tax ceiling of AUD$1,000 tax free on incoming overseas purchases to zero. So if this is passed you will be up for 3% customs duty plus 10% Goods and Services tax on all incoming TS from overseas.
Cheers Howard

I think the high cost of postage from the USA to UK does not help as well when your talking $50.00 to ship a tank .
