I hope some of you were able to catch the Winter Solstice
and the Lunar Eclipse last night. I lucked out as usually
everytime something like this happens it is cloudy. Last night
clear. I was going to go out and dance naked around some
rocks, but it was too cold. I did make several trips outside
to observe the progress. Orion also stood out.
“The last time this occurred was more than three centuries ago on Dec. 21, 1638. It will
happen again on Dec. 21, 2094,………….”

Was able to watch it from the bedroom window. Had a beautiful view although it was somewhat cloudy for about half the time. It got very dark at the maximum point of the eclipse. Quite interesting. -- Al

I missed it. I hadn't checked to see what time it was to occur, and thought it was earlier last night. We had overcast from around 8PM till midnight at least, and I thought I missed it. Had I known, I'd have gotten up early to see it. I watched the last one we had a couple of years ago, it always reminds me of the image of the "celestial machine" so often used in the 1600's and 1700's to describe the way the universe works.

Still, the moon was brilliant, and very pretty, this morning when I got up.

Prost!

It's my son's 22nd Birthday as well.

Thanks! I saw the debate on-line.

We had a winter storm here last night so I missed the eclipse.

I was up & outside at the optimum time of 0040h Arizona time thanks to the retired Amherst Astronomy Professor up the street. Unfortunately, I saw nothing but clouds/visible moisture so the entire operation went SNAFU.
