My friend Tom was visiting this weekend and he has the new FL Wirbelwind. A very fine looking model. I snapped this photo of Tom's vehicle.

Duke mate,
Nice photo cobber, but you better tell young Tom to get some spanners out and adjust the track tension on that AFV as with one tight turn and the driver is going to "throw a track". Adjusting track tension is one of a driver's SOPs.
Also make sure you don't look after him too well or he will expect good old Southern hospitality when he returns home.{sm4}

Cheers Howard

Sorry, but that one looks weird to me. The camo on the hull vs the turret is completely different. Even the Dunkelgelb shades aren’t the same. It’s like the factory put the hull and turret of two different paint masters together.

I totally agree, I've no idea if this was done on purpose or not but it looks strange IMO. I'm also not sure if there are period pictures that would backup this choice, it seems out of the ordinary to me.

Interestingly enough, I come out at the other end. Understanding that these were initially (1944) modified/built in the field makes me believe that the body and the turret were painted at different times by different individuals with paints of different consistency. I agree it is a stand-out, but that is exactly why I like it.

This is why I'm a member of forums so I can get other members insight & opinions. Thanks your yours Andreas , it makes sense to me maybe a member with a book on Wirbelwinds can add a picture or two.

Good point.....makes sense and would explain the varied camo pattern... :salute::.....I wonder if FL did this intentionally ?

The pic turned out great Duke mate, I reckon I'll find it tough to match the quality when I take pics of it back home in Oz. I like this vehicle and despite the high price it looks awesome in the flesh. I'm not bothered by the difference in camo schemes or the track tension as mentioned by young Howard 😉

Can someone please confirm the uniforms of the crew? In the description, it reads: “ 2 Winter Full Crew Figures manning the Gun (fixed)“, but I think in NOR90 the crew is in summer uniforms.

Looks like you gentlemen are having a terrific time!😎👍. Tom, I hope you have loads of fun in San Francisco with Doug!👌
