:) First of All, I'm a little disapointed, that Not too many people voting for the N. African Poll Sets; on this Treefrog Forum, that I Suggested, that Andy would make for US Collector's! I didn't Include a NEW 3-Man MG Set DAK-----at Lease ( 8 )-More Fighting / Attacking Infantry, for DAK? Also, at least (8 )-NEW Fighting Italian Infantry along side the DAK? And, of course Monty's ( Desert Rats ), w/more Aussies, Highlander's, British Infantry! Also, I like the NEW British Tommy's, for the Battle-of-Caen, plus we need a ( MG Team ), ( Mortar Team ), a ( Piat Team), for the Churchill's Commandos, plus Sherman ( Firefly), and a Cromwell Infantry Tank! :) NOW, the NEW Sets for 2006, should be Battle-of-MT.Cassino ( Fallschrimjager ll)-w/ Heavy and Light Weapons Teams, includes Andy's New Hetzer Release, and Grille Self-Propelled Vehicles, that's coming with the Winter Germans! Also, Possible Gerbisjager-( Winter Mountain Troops )w/ Ski's and Kettenkrad, and Opel Maultier/ on Tracks! :(

I think I covered some of my wishes in an earlier post, but to recap: a ne M4A3 for the Battle of the Bulge, a new M5A1 "Stuart", an M10 tank destroyer, some figures of the Army-Navy combined engineer groups (came ashore to blow up the obstacles on DDay and suffered heavy losses), a US 105mm howitzer w/ crew, and maybe a new, revised LCVP.

Your Cassino idea is interesting as the campaign ended up involving US troops, British troops from several Commonwealth nations, Free French "goumier" mountain troops, and Free Polish troops. For a company that specializes in figures, this Allied variety, plus the variations in German troops, would seem to call out for attention.

I know that (so far) Andy isn't into "repaints" of most of his vehicles, but an M10 tank destroyer could be offered with variable stowage, or whatever and offered in US (North Africa, Italy, Europe and even Pacific), British, or Free French colors and variations. The M7 "Priest" SP gun is another vehicle that got around in varius nations colors and in many campaigns of WW2.

As far as Monte Cassino or other Italian campaign ideas, in an email Andy told me that wasn't something that he was looking at.

Since this isn't just a WWII forum, I'd like to suggest some charging Chasseurs a Cheval of the Guard along with their accompanying squadron of Mamelukes. It would also great to see K&C do some heavies like Grenadiers a Cheval of the Guard or breast plated Cuirassiers, the tanks of the Napoleonic battlefield. I guess more British troops would be good, trying to defend against cavalry or perhaps running in terror. ( Insert smiley face here )

How about some German K-9 units. German Patrols with the German Shepherds. :)

Back in 1994 K&C did a Hong Kong Police K-9 unit with an Alsatian, so he has done this type of thing before. We can hope. But as you are probably aware, my wish for the upcoming year is some warbirds and related materials.

This might have been mentioned but how about some u-boat figures with a small portion of a u-boat to place them in.
Some German medics, a German field kitchen and a U.S. bomber crew. and more charecter figures.
Gary

I think the list of figures that could be made is endless. We do need some more character pieces depicting something different other than me in action.

I second Louis's idea of the RAF with ground crew and hangers along with some more warbirds. More of that would be neat. Maybe even some trains for transporting the Tigers with the narrow tracks.

Bill

Now I must admit, that train transporting idea sounds cool.

Great suggestion Bill. I like that train transporting idea although do you have a train car or a set of cars and then a locomotive, etc. It might be too much for Andy.

Brad,

It probably would be but I could do with a couple of the flat cars that they used to haul the tanks on with some yard men, it would make for a nice display. Maybe a loading ramp and a recon tank with it.

Bill

Well, at the Chicago show, and at the N.Y. Symposium, Andy was talking about how cool it would be to produce an allied Tank transporter, so its not totally outside of possibility . . .

I think the Tank Transporter would be a great addition. It would fill in a gap that we currently have. What markings would you start with though? Winter, Summer or Afrika campaign?

Bill

Andy seemed to indicate it would be like a three foot long tank transporter for the wetern european campaign, he might have called it something like a "Dragon Wagon", I really don't recall, as, at the time, I was trying to talk him into doing a tank recovery vehicle instead. I thought that a tank recovery vehicle, either a converted tank with a crane instead of a turret or one of those armored trucks with a crane on the back and a 50 caliber mounted over the cab, would be more displayable on a diorama, in that it would take less space, and would be more commonly seen close to the front recovering the enormous quantity of knocked out shermans.

You are absolutely right Louis. If you think about it the changeable turrent would be easy for Andy to produce since the base of the Tank would remain the same. Should be a profitable item I would think.

The War Wagon is a monster of a piece. I have seen them in plastic and it is HUGE! That would be a cool piece to.

Bill

Andy has a point that the US Army's M25 "Dragon Wagon' tractor/trailer combo would be very impressive. On the down side, you would need a whole shelf to display it. That's one of the reasons that I haven't bought the excellent Tamiya kit in plastic is I don't even have enough room for the box (I'm kind of "bought ahead" on tank models). Then (of course) we'd need a new tank to put on it! The M25 set could handle a Sherman easily, there is a photo of one with two M5A1s, with modification it could handle the M26 "Pershing", and I think somebody had a photo of one used to haul away a captured Panther. It would also be a huge dent in the old checkbook too, but wow, what a beast it would be!

For US units the tactical recovery vehicles inluded the M31 (aka T2) which was an M3 Lee rebuild as a recovery vehicle, and later the M32, which was based on various Sherman hulls. To pull halftracks and light tanks the conventional 6X6 wreckers (based on 4-ton and 7.5 ton chassis) were used. Any of these would make nice K&C models also, especially with the mechanic figures added.

Dear Binder,

Thanks for the excellent technical info on these tank recovery vehicles. I completely agree that one of these would be excellent, and a crew of mechanics would make it even better (perhaps Andy could get permission to do a Belton Cooper figure). I see this option as far more practical for collectors than a tank transporter.

Regards,

Louis
