Classic horror movie,I loved it.Maybe because Del Toro didn't come across as a classic English gentleman.

Mainstream Hollywood has lost the knack for making great horror and western films. The movies are so expensive to make the execs insist the plot is BIG to earn a profit. Hire a star, have a few chase scenes and lots of CG special effects. The irony is that it almost never works. I prefer the indy horror flicks these days. Many are awful, but a few good ones out there.

Mark, I agree about the classic part. They did try to do the old Universal style with lighting and shots. They even did Lon Chaney's style of Wolfman.
