World at War, the best? (1 Viewer)

Victory at Sea, never will forget this childhood memory from the 50,s. My dad was in the Marines in the Pacific, so what ever week night it was on my dad would let me stay up past my bed time and we would watch the series together.

Hi Markey,

There are 26 episodes in the original documentary.

"The Making of the Series" may be a bonus episode.

I,ve been watching the World at War series for about the 10th time. That has got to be the best overall documentary on WW2.
If anyone can name a better let me know.
Gary

Agree Gary, I saw for the first time in 1994 and this series really put me into WWII

I remember Victory at Sea from many years ago. Great score.

That has just reminded me - and made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. That Music - that began the programme. Like others have mentioned - my Dad would let me stay up late and watch it too. He would frequently point out details of ships etc whilst we watched. He didn't talk much about the war - until after the programme had ended - but then - out would pour all of his (to me wonderful) memories.

Just mentioning that "score" did it for me again. I can hear it in my head now. The voice of the narrator too:

" And Now! - The Battle Begins". Funny thing memory - nice to have them though.
