Wow (1 Viewer)

You weren't kidding ,seem like very high prices for single figures

Wow, indeed! Those really are crazy prices for single figures:eek:.

That said though, the KGL line did seem to be one of K&C's best Napoleonics releases to date. Definitely regret entering the hobby that bit too late to catch them:(. Ah well, I suppose I'll manage to hold on until the next incarnation of British or Allied light infantry!!

Cheers,

Molloy.

I have to admit if I came into this too late I would be bidding on them as well maybe not as high but definently in the running....

This is the one thing i hate about e-bay.

It makes the general look of things better than they are and unreal.

I mean a figures that retailed in the UK for £20.95 to be at around £80 that is mental.

even if you missed it the first time around there are places in the UK you can still get it. And iam sure some other dealers around the world would have it.

People shoul dlook to e-bay as a last resort not the first port of call.

We have about 12 British Shermans left DD65 at £89.95 and there was one sold on e-bay the other day for £190.............i mean come on if the guy who bought it is a true collector he would have known where to get it!!

mad mad mad and in my opinion sad!

Its Great For Collectors IN SOME WAYS AND IN SOME WAYS NOT...no Offence I Love It And I Hope It Continues.....it Makes Me Smile...i Wouldn't Be Very Happy If The Prices I Paid For My Stuff Stayed The Same For 20 Years....I would rather they rise otherwise whats the challenge in all of this if I could buy any of my figures at anytime for the same price...we might as well put them on every shelf in every corner store...the WW2 stuff has been rising and not much said its about time it happens to NAPS...

Agree.........But 20 years is one thing not six months there is no justification and this is when an AUCTION is artificial. Because no doubt somebody will go oh OK my KGL figure is worth $155 now..............er no!

It is only worth what two or more individuals in an auction want to pay for it!. And also once that person has it they don't need it so therefore demand goes again. But you will see some doughnut put the same figure on later for the ending price of e-bay!

Tony

Actually its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and it looks like some people are..thats ok by me....the KGL...had a very short run and I assume some people want it.....I'm not saying its right...but....its not this Forum nor is it dealers who will determine the value its the world of collecting....I personally would look around for a better deal....How can I be faulted for being happy that my collection is going up in value...it maybe inflated but if they are not easy to get and people are willing to pay for an item than its not odd.....I know my KGL isn't for sale any time soon...

WELLINGTON

Would you say the same about WW2 sets which are not 20 years old....I'm not trying to pick a fight but I do think this is a healthy discussion for Forum members who perhaps don't talk about it very much....I will always look for a better price even when they are new...but eventually you may have to give in and pay more for an item or not own it....the KGL 5 years from now will be as rare as any WW2 sets that have been retired in the past....what will they be worth then....as much as the collectors market will make it like any antique or collectible....personally I buy real militaria antiques and its the same rule...I have bought an item someone has told me I paid too much for...and my response is if you can find it and sell it to me for less you have got a deal...usually they never do...an example is pm01 and pm02....go find them and when you do let me know if you paid 25.00 for them or alot more if you do find them for 25.00 let me know and I'll buy more...I know these figures are still available but in a few years when you can't find them...will they be worth 25.00 still?

Wellington..............i know your not picking a fight as iam agreeing!!! see my last post!

However yeah i think the same stands for ALL products. Iam more saying that people see e-bay as their FIRST resort for looking for things.

I have since we spoke found two of my dealers in the UK who have the said figure for the original £20.95 OK they only have one each but in five mins i found them. The guys bidding cannot have looked they just WHAM hit e-bay and started bidding. Also pick up the phone and speak to people we have found people loads of stuff after they have called my father the old fashioned way and spoke with him!

It is true what is anything worth?....that that anybody is willing to pay!

But with a little effort you can get it for a sensible price. E-bay is not often sensible...............don't get me wrong i use e-bay both sell and buy. But i dont think i will take out my 60 KGL out of display and put them on at $155 EACH!! it is unreal and false!

Not sure iam making myself clear.

Yes you are clear...I have since bought those two figures you spoke of...:p
I hope that these prices, although...premature....do reflect the future of our collections....when I buy something, I have to like it most of all...I try to like things that have some sort of value or investment to them..It gives me a rush ......I agree with what you are saying and I would do my home work when buying as well but truthfully once the few deals dry up...where will you get them...I don't think you would sell yours if you can't replace them and most certainly not what you paid for them....I try and buy when they are first released ...I have been lucky because I stared to collect these figures when they first came out...if I had of jumped on the band wagon too late it would be much tougher....I plan on handing my collection off to my boys who wil hopefully respect them and have an interrest...most of all I hope my boys can profit from them one day....a gift from my hard work.

WELLINGTON

I do fully agree with you...I do think this is what collecting is all about...I have been a little jealous of the WW2 collectors in the sense that many things had been retired, prices went up for retired items..items became rare and that much more collectible...where the NAPS originally..none of which were retired were a phone call away...the WW2 line had depth...now that the NAPS are maturing they too are starting to follow suit..it sure makes me much more interrested in my collection to show other collectors pieces that perhaps they have never seen and can't find even if you had $200.00 to spend on it..

Just bought 3 of these for retail price since reading these posts.

Mister Dave

Thankyou i rest my case!

if you collect K&C and any other toysoldier why not try a TOYSOLDIER dealer first!

Tony

How much are the old gloss Alamo or Rough Rider figures going for?

Thats good.... 3 more down off the market which makes them that much more harder to find......:) Eventually I'll be resting my case!!
