So, I've gotten 4 more at retail since my last post. :eek::cool:

I never thought I'd get my hands on any of these guys...they will be cherished. :)

Always a wise guy in the crowd...when your ready to sell them to me for 25.00 let me know. Also if you have any WW2 retired items I would appreciate those at regular retail as well. WW2 retired items are very cherished in my collection...:eek:

Sorry Wellington, don't mean to be a smart aleck. Just genuinely happy...it's just the last 3 of 8 poses I have not acquired yet I am worried about.

No problem wasn't sure....its your right as a human being to be anyway....I just find it VERY interresting how retired WW2 figures can go up in price with no complaints BUT when another range does its wrong....You should be happy too...they are great figures and will eventually be hard to find...make sure you sell yours a few years from now for what you paid for them....the last part is obviously a joke I would hold on to them and make a good profit in the end....

I'm defending the NAPS line of K&C figures ....I'm hoping someone else who collects this line will stand up and defend them as well...some reenforcements would be good...even if you are on Napoleons side...
 
If I had to choose between WWII and Naps I'd choose the latter. Just have a few WWII and will add more here and there in future. As far as Ebay goes, I sell more than I buy, but have paid a lot for certain things I just had to have more than once. At the same time, I am often amazed at how often people pay more on Ebay for something than it would cost brand new and it's readily available. Retired and scarce items are really up to how badly you want it and how much you'll pay I guess. Today was a rare day for me in that I found some great scarce things for a beautiful price. Wish more days were like this.

I understand...if I had the cash I would buy what ever KGL I could find for a good price too....I have a good amount anyhow...

Well then - no call to arms can be ignored!

Firstly, I must say I am quite happy when my pieces go up in value. In fact, if the diecast armor and aircraft I used to focus on weren't pulling in solid prices I wouldn't have quite as many figures as I now do. Naps and Crusaders are my primary K&C focus although I have dipped into WWII a bit more of late my passion is firmly rooted in the earlier time periods where it was flash over camo. :D

I sympathise with you, Dave. The KGL figures were the first group I had to have and it took me awhile to track down one of NA076 at retail - albeit GB retail. Just before I dove into the hobby the KGL were retired and I had to scramble for all of them. I wish there were more forthcoming as they are one of my favorites but it is nice to know they probably have a long future as highly desired figures in the community.

Now I need some French voltigeurs they can victimize!
 
...................:).........................FYI...if NAP collectors treat their collections as second class they always will be,.....as far as I'm concerned the NAP collectors will be ahead of the game in the future....

I was thinking the same thing you were on WWII figures - especially Arnhem - they can go for BIG $$$$ - not a peep from anyone, just "well there worth it."

My Napoleonic Collection allows me to do small troop redeployments to Ebay to pick up other Napoleonics and now NAPOLEONIC ART ! :D

I agree collect what you like and watch your value grow - but, every now and then take advantage of the market to reinvest - thats my philosophy. ;)

NAPOLEONICS do have a wider audience I think with the Europeans who collect now and with the exchange rate the way it is - everybody wins !

may i just point out at 2am in the UK whilst still working on some projects that i feel you have totally missed my point if it is my quotes and points you keep referring to regards the price of things!

the subject matter was a KGL however my point with regard the pricing on e-bay has been such that there is and normally always is a large amount of ALL makes of K&C still at retail with a lot of dealers around the world. Yet people still find the need to hit ebay (as an example and shheeesh other auctions exist) and bid on items that are still available.

Then when this is observed the general consensus is oh my figure, vehicle, building or whatever is worth 'x' when in fact it ain't.

the time scale to me is not important OK we discussed 20 years! however i was pointing out that after a relevantly short period of time MOST product is still available from dealers of collectors..........making the need to spend silly amounts of money on something.

maybe its me maybe its been a long day if so iam outer here bed calls.....................or maybe i am picking up the sticky end of the stick with regards the quotes.

On this point Wellington

It is as far as K&C UK concerned one of the best sellers so i dont think it needs promoting it does very well and it looks cool when it is all out on display.

Tony its not just our conversation.....the WW2 range has been climbing in price..and I feel now that some of the NAPS are being retired and harder to find and they are going up as well......we all know some new WW2 stuff sells out and/or is retired and they go up in price...so why can't NAPS...take no offence to my comments...I don't think a WW2 range collector would be happy if I said that there tank shouldn't go up in price and it should stay the same and it isn't worth that kind of money...The KGL has recently been retired and has started to become more rare and dry up..in my opinion this is the beginning of whats to come in this range...I know you are saying they are not worth that...remember its worth what someone wants to pay....as far as I'm concerned NO NAP collectors should sell any of their retired collection for what they paid....sell it for more...if someone wants it they will have to PAY for it....K&C does the same promoting...thats why dealers are NOT allowed to lower their prices it devalues them....I've also seen some of Britains individual figures from their retired NAPS range go for big money...NAP collectors need to start promoting the price increase....

Far point. mind the KGL are worth that as and when normal retail stocks have dried. I feel for a true collector like yourself and the other guys who have today found the same figure at $30 there is no need to spend $155. not that they are NOT worth that.......just no need.

Doh there goes another British Sherman at £130 on toy mart auction..................funny still on my site at £89.95. thats what astounds me!

Good chat and as i say NAPs will and do get a good price.

What can I say Tony...my retired items are not for sale because I can't replace most of them at least for what I paid...in the end none of mine will be sold cheap unless noone wants toy soldiers anymore...an example is PM01 and 02....some people are looking for them and have offered big money for them...they are out there but noone wants to sell them and if I did I would want a hell of a lot more than what I paid for them...Can any WW2 collectors out there give me an example of a fairly NEW tank that now is hard to find and doubled in price if you could even find one for sale?

For those prices I would go connoisseur. Wellington is right in that everything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Look at some of the dumb stuff that sells on eBay.

I don't purchase figures as an investment (there are far better investment vehicles). Sure it's nice to know they have intrinsic value but I certainly don't expect to make money. Take, for instance, the HB Damaged Panther I purchased this at full price because I really liked it when it was released. It doesn't bother me that it's selling for $99 now because I paid for the enjoyment of the piece and it has given me that. You win some and you lose some as far as value goes.

You make an important point...collect what you like first....but there is nothing wrong with choosing something smart that can reward you or the loved ones you leave them to..Truthfully as I have stated before I first and formost collect real antques from both WW2 and the Napoleon age...these are true investments in my eyes I paid ALOT of money for them and I WILL BE SELLING THEM AS SUCH....and yes sometimes you win some and you loose some I collect them because I love them but they too are an investment..truthfully if I didn't believe in the products that I have choosen to spend my money on I could't live with myself knowing I wasted this money on just me and not the future of my family ...If I really didn't care about my investment then I should be collecting bottle caps or something.

I collect K&C Napoleonics, both British and French since they first came out, but I don't think of them as an investment....their part of my "current model soldier collection". I've never bought any retired figures at above original retail and haven't thought about selling any because of the retired prices are going up.

If you think the WW2 guys look down on Napoleonics, try getting them interested in the Streets of Old Hong Kong! :eek:
