Some help would be greatly appeciated. I'm new to the hobby of collecting soldiers and currently I can't decide between the Ak029SL (Rommels Greif) or WS077SL (Panzer Meyers command vehicle.) I'm currently focusing my collecting on the africa campaign and DDay. I only have enough money for 1 of them. I know the AK029SL is valued at a higher price but I'm looking for the piece with the best detail. I have been to a couple shows and have not been able to see them in person since no one has had them on display so I would appreciate any advice given.

The Panzer Meyer is the most detailed and larger halftrack of the
2 buy a fair bit . A lot less of the Rommel halftrack where made hence
the higher price . Unless you are a completist or rommel nut the meyer
half track is better value given current prices imo.

The Greif (German for Gryphon) is on ebay. Current bid is over 400 dollars. If you can find the Meyer command car I do not believe the price is up there yet. Panzer Meyer is a strictly limited as denoted by your listing. It may be hard to find.

Difficult one this.I have both sets and like them equally as much.I guess if you are into the the AK then Rommels vehicle is a must have, but the other one in my opinion is well worth having.Either way you are going to have an excellant SL edition vehicle that will enhance your collection, you can't lose really.

I'd go for the Panzer Meyer for both price and overall quality.

Sorry NapoleRon,
At the moment I'm just too much into SOHK and IC.
It's probably cos of all the Chinese accessories we've picked up this time I'm home. They really ADD an extra dimension to our displays IMO.

I have both and prefer the quality of the Panzer Meyer set including the figures. I still see it at the dealer shops so availability should not be an issue. The pros with the Greif are the association with Rommel and the very limited numbers produced. The small size of the Greif and clumsy fit of the MG and figures though are drawbacks for me.

Thanks for the advice guys it really sounds like the WS077SL is the better quality piece so I'll probably lean that way. I would love to get the "Greif" but I'm kinda drawn back from purchasing it esp. if there are issues with pieces fitting securely into the vehicle.

Really don't care whether it was or not. If it looks cool - that's good enough.

If it was never used in the Desert War, why would you want it in there? Although I don't get perturbed about some slight inconsistencies between an actual tank and the model, I would draw the line at something not having been there at all.

AK29 is one of my favorite K&C vehicles. It is unique and the size is cool. Looks great with the new Tiger. That would be my vote.

Why not..?? I'd chuck a few T34's into Libya if I thought they'd look good :eek:;);).
Seriously though, collections belong to the individual collector - to do with as they please. I'm not denying that 100% accuracy is a laudable aim - despite the fact that I personally don't care about it to the point where I'm gnashing my teeth with rage if a certain manufacturer offers some item that contains inherent inaccuracies. And before I get shouted down by those for whom that is unacceptable and 100% accuracy is a matter of life or death, I'm not getting involved in any responses to this post. It's a purely personal point of view.

Cheers

The figures are removable from the Panzer Meyer halftrack, so it would be easy to repaint them or leave them out. The 251/6 was used in Africa.
