Wow what a terrific piece, and a wonderful auction! Congradulations to the

winer "erichyeti" I see a lot of our "Hardcore Collectors" (said with Respect!)

chased this great piece! I made only a feeble attempt do to item location,

but I do admire the piece. If another one comes up on this side of the pond

I will be all over it "Like a cheap Suit" It is a wonderful piece, one of the 1st

items I ever saw from King & Country at Gideons Shop. I've included a picture

for anyone that missed the auction. WS24-$1145, very limited production.

To Andy C any production numbers for the Original WInter Series?

Its a cute little vignette, but $1145? Wow! I am so happy that I was collecting back then and bought these sets for retail. There is no way I could aford them now. I think I have spent as much in the last two years filling gaps in my collection as I did over the first ten years building my collection.

I can't say based on what summer versions have brought that the price is completely out of bounds but I can't see myself spending that.

Well Louis, you haven't seen anything yet. Once your book comes out, and

people can put production numbers and time frames with pieces watch out!

I'm really looking forward to the Atlanta Model Miniatures Show Feb 18. In

past years King & Country was scarce even though one year there was an

airdrome and several aircraft on display. Who knew then? Last year over

half the dealers had King & Country, this year should prove very interesting!

Many years ago I published one of the 1st articles on Hess Trucks, over

night the early pieces became worth $1000. At one point a few of the top

pieces originally costing less then $10 were worth $3000.

Unfortunatly, do to extreme over production current Hess Trucks have less

value then a grain of sand in the Sahara.

Good luck at the Symposium, and with your new home. Please give Andy C

my reguards.

John,

Andy has given me the following production numbers for the Winter items, which he asked me to post:

Tiger 100

Stug, Hanomag and 88 200

Kubelwagen 100

Figure sets Between 300 and 400 (not more than 500 he estimates)

Brad, thanks for the information, and thank Andy C. for me. Those are very

interesting numbers when you consider the growing number of collectors.

You can consider yourself lucky if you have a few of these classic pieces in

your collection.

Have you got one Ernie? I was quite lucky to pick one up last year, its

terrific. I heard there was 100 but I'm not positive thus my question.

This may sound as if I,m bragging a bit, but I would be interested to know who have what on the above early winter vehicles.
I have the kubel, 88, hanomag & panther.
Gary

I have Stug, 88 gun, Hanomag, motorcycle w/sidecar, WS12, and WS17. I would like to complete this collection but it will take a lot of mula.

I have the Tiger, Panther, Kubel, Hanomag, and WS12W all boxed. Alex where

did you find your WS24W?

Njja

I'm way behind you guys. Only have the Panther and Hanomag.

I forgot to ask him about the Panther when we talked last night but I'm thinking it's probably in the 200 range.

Brad next time you speak to him, if possible ask him the numbers of the

panther series, original, winter, and ambush. The question of production of

these pieces always seems to come up, yet I have never heard a definitive

number.

You guys forgot to mention the three rarest winter items: The wood winter tiger (only one ever produced), the winter Sherman (IWJ13(w)) of which 10 were produced and the winter T-34 of which only 20 were produced. The winter Sherman and T-34 were specially made for, and only sold by Tony Ciccarello of the Toy Soldier Gallery in Highland Falls New York. These will all be on display at the Symposium.

John,

Just sent him an email. I'll let you know when I hear.

I think these items are not mentioned because they really are in a different

class. Items produced in such extreme limited numbers are not really items

99% of collectors can ever hope to acquire. They are certainly interesting

pieces to view, but something you might actually someday find, and add to

your collection usually generate more personal interest.

I had the WS14(w) Stug III, and the WS15(w) Tiger (both from eBay no less),
the WS17(w) assault team (from Erik Meijer of Diecast International), and the WS18(w) PAK40 and the WS24(w) 88mm set (both from Frederic Grenard's ToySolider Paris).

I sold them all to fund new purchases at different stages. Yes nice to own, and the 88 is a remarkable display piece, but because it has been so enjoyable to own all the fine sets that have come and gone through my collection since then I'd really have to say that I'd hardly miss any of them.
