I see that both WS47 and WS69 are for sale on ebay. What's the difference?

Kurt, WS47 was a regular issue Stug while WS69 was a limited edition. The differences were in the paint job, vehicle number, and maybe the paint job on the figures, although I am not sure what the figure difference is. -- lancer

Here is a photo of each. WS069 was limited to 500. The machine gunner looks the same on both but the commanders pose and uniform are different. The rider on the rear has the same pose but a different uniform. I think the foliage on WS047 came with the first so many models of that edition and is not attached to the vehicle.

I have WS069. The mud, rust and shot holes on the side armour is very realistic.
I have not noticed much price difference between the 2 models when they come up on e-bay. The WS047 seems more popular. I like the camo better. The limited status of WS069 does not seem to have made it more valuable. If there is any price difference, the WS047 is more expensive.

I have Ws047 (Thanks to Lancer, I believe) and it is a great piece. I to prefer the camo pattern. It seems to work better with my Normandy pieces.

The WS047 colours are the most common for Normandy and the Eastern Front as the 3 colour scheme was mandated from February 1943 until August 1944. The colours consist of a factory applied basecoat of Dunkelgelb (Dark Yellow) with disruptive colours of Olive Green and Chocolate Brown suitable to the region and season. The 3 colour scheme was the most common, but 2 colour patterns were also used (Dark Yellow Base + Olive Green or Dark Yellow Base + Chocolate Brown). The variance was due to unit commanders preference, or the unit may not have had the Green or Brown paint from time to time. It was possible to have the 3 colour scheme and both 2 colour schemes in the same unit fighting side by side. After August 1944, the same 3 colours were used but in an ambush pattern (Yellow Base Coat + Green and Brown dots) to help the vehicles on the Normandy front to hide from allied aircraft under trees during the day.

It's always hard to judge colors from pictures like this but the brown and green look remarkably true to the applicable RAL standards. Since this was supplied as a paste, thinned and applied by the maintenance units in the field there could be a fair amount of variation in color saturation.

Dunkelgelb nach Muster whose origins can be traced to agricultural equipment is an interesting color that appears to have had a number of variations. When it received it's RAL designation of 7028 it was placed in the 7000s which are the greys. It is best described as a greyish yellowish beige. It was discontinued so you won't find it on any RAL color cards today.

If you look at B&W period photos you can often make out two shades of paint over the light colored Dunkelgelb with one slightly darker than the other. I have removed the color from one of the pictures I have attached to demonstrate why I believe the darker color is the brown. To Terry's point you also see pictures where all the camouflage appears to be the same shade inferring a single overlying color. You will also come across vehicles without any brown or green camouflage, just the Dunkelgelb base coat.

If anyone has one of these tanks they want to sell please let me know...Sammy

I've had to admire those two pieces from afar. I've bid on both of them at least a dozen times on E-bay but always lost out. I'm hoping sometime in the future that K&C releases a new long barrel STUG III or IV so my E-bay disappointment will end! :p
By the way I like both versions and would be happy with either.

I wanted WS047 but could not win it on e-bay. Fortunately, I was just starting to collect about the time the Jagdpanther, Winter Tiger, Summer Panther, 88 Gun and the Stug were out so I grabbed the Stug (and of course the other mentioned pieces). Over time I have grown to like the 2 colour scheme - it is less common.

Getting back to the original question, they were both from the same mold. The SL was a repaint and done because K & C recognized that WS 47 was retired too quickly (there was a furor about it at the time).

I have the WS069 and it is my favourite tank by KC

I think the crew look great on it and I plan to put it in a dio as it's a real 'action' looking tank.

I know the Tiger Tank's are popular but I think both Stugs are better; I think the crew are what makes it

Stugs & shermans are my favourite tanks. I havent seen one i dont like.

Thanks Jazzeum - I have always wondered why K&C did a limited edition reissue so soon after the original. Certainly not typical of K&C.

I guess it ways Andy's way to say If you are so insistent on not missing the Stug, here are 500 more and do not complain if these sell out and you still did not buy one in time.

I was just looking at some of the HB shermans, i like the one with the foliage among others. Great detail.

I have both the WS47 and the WS69 SL. Both are great pieces. Personally, I like the weathered realistic paint job on the WS69 SL. It's one of my favorites in my collection.
Semper Fi!
