I scratch built the base using 3 pounds of Majic Scupt and adding some JG Miniatures items: Rocks, fuel drums, and vegetation. Added some real rocks and sand and The sign is from K&C with a wash to make it look sun bleached. Difficult to tell by the photos, but it came out quite detailed. I've been experimenting with desert bases and this one is my best so far.
Ray,
Used one of the figures (operator) and gave him a new head from a spare K&C single I had. Scratchbuilt the goggles around his neck. The rider is from the "questioning the prisioner AK set. Also a spare that I got off Ebay. Added a leg borrowed from a leftover of one of my earlier conversions.
Studied several photos including some color photos and wanted to replicate the dust and grit that accumulates when riding in the desert.
Semper Fi!

I am about to do some conversions on metal figures and have never attempted the head removal, how do you go about it? What tools do you find effective?
