That is about as good a conversion as I've ever seen. I hope Andy takes notice and thinks abot an Afrika Corps version.

You did it again, toy soldier envy...I want one of those, LOL.

Great job,

Carlos

Cool stuff. Great job on the conversions and its nice and dusty.

I keep saying that you guys are in the wrong line of work. Fantastic job. Where does the base come from?

Brad,
I scratch built the base using 3 pounds of Majic Scupt and adding some JG Miniatures items: Rocks, fuel drums, and vegetation. Added some real rocks and sand and The sign is from K&C with a wash to make it look sun bleached. Difficult to tell by the photos, but it came out quite detailed. I've been experimenting with desert bases and this one is my best so far.

Ray,
Used one of the figures (operator) and gave him a new head from a spare K&C single I had. Scratchbuilt the goggles around his neck. The rider is from the "questioning the prisioner AK set. Also a spare that I got off Ebay. Added a leg borrowed from a leftover of one of my earlier conversions.

Studied several photos including some color photos and wanted to replicate the dust and grit that accumulates when riding in the desert.

Once again. very impressive!
I am about to do some conversions on metal figures and have never attempted the head removal, how do you go about it? What tools do you find effective?
Ray

Alex,
I used JG Miniatures (S33a) Clumps of short grass. The package comes with about 10 clumps in various shapes. I snipped small pieces from these clumps and embedded them into the Majic Sculp base before it dried. They come light green so I spray painted them to give the appearance of dried vegetation.

By the way what kind of paint did you use on your Pz I repaint. It looked great!

Ray,
Dremel tool with cutoff disk. Also the shaped grinding stones come in handy.

I airbrushed Tamiya Desert Yellow and then weathered it.

Okay Rick .....but where are the bugs in the riders teeth? If you asked I

could have sent you a photo from any of my Harley rides! I actually took a

ride yestereday like riding in a blast furnace it was 103 here yesterday.

Your work is top notch! Really great job!

John,
If you look closely you may notice a desert locust lodged between the operators incisors...

Be careful on that Harley.
