So here's an idea for an Australian Imperial Force vehicle to compliment the figures being released by King & Country, JJD and Thomas Gunn. A Model T-Ford from the 1st Australian Light Car Patrol, complete with Lewis guns and kit. How about it guys, who will be the first manufacturer to take up this challenge?

Already been done. Yeomanry Miniatures made one over a year ago. Trooper

This is a Toy Army Workshop car that I repainted for Artillery Crazy earlier this year.

It was cast by Fr Greg from the moulds that he purchased from TAW about 10 years ago, but sadly are no longer available following his death.

The set was sold at auction as TAW, but to be truthful, its not from the original maker in UK, but is from the moulds.

I have painted the same crest onto the radiator, as depicted in the pictures of the restored car.

For an interesting red about the LCP in Egypt, take a look at Light Car Patrols 1916-19 by Silphium Press. Unlike the Fords in Palestine, these were stripped down to bare bones . . . would make some great models by converting 1:32 diecast models as no two appeared to be alike.

Hi All,

Just caught up with this chat and would add that Obee did a great job on the FORD and an armoured Rolls that the troops on the field converted to a " truck" so as to provide more cargo space during the raids....
Check my album at https://www.flickr.com/photos/132553564@N08/sets/72157652590056202
for more pictures of both sets.....I plan to add more pictures on desert scenario as soon as work and weekend " do this and do that from the Mrs " allows me{sm2}{sm2}

Another very good book to be read on the same topic is Wheels Across the Desert - Exploration of the Libyan Desert by motorcar 1916-1942 by Andrew Goudie also by Silphium Press.

Cheers

Luiz

Toy Army Workshop used to have the Desert and the Western Front varsions of the Ford scout car mounting a Lewis or a Vickers ( your choice ) pitty that TAW went under and the rest of the saga Obee has summarized in this thread.....

Along with the Yeomanry option you also have the option of going for a version sold as a kit by John Eden.....very good set indeed also...and I have it as a Western Front version see below.....image002 (223).jpgimage002 (212).jpgimage002 (45).jpgimage002 (7).jpgRoseCar2.jpg
