WW1, BBC and pc.... (1 Viewer)

all for respecting both sides and accepting things were done poorly on both sides as it was a war!! But, do the Germans really get offended when faced with a historical fact that they lost two world wars??

Not sure none of the many hundreds of germans I know and thousands I have spoken too get upset as its a fact. I would think its how its done that would annoy or offend. If its playing the Dambusters theme and shouting 2-0 then, I am sure it would possibly offend some if its done in a historical manner depicting the events and, acknowledging the effect these wars had on both sides and, that the allied sides eventually overcome a difficult side to beat then, no I would think that is the right way to address it.

I suppose some repeats of Fawlty towers the Germans won't get much airtime in this period!!!!LOL

Certainly we don't need to ram it down their throat Mitch, but I hope at the same time they can tell the truth and don't try to wash things down for the sake of pc-ness.:rolleyes2:

I have to sort of agree with the critics. The Allies won the war, thank god. That's the facts. What is there tobe ashamed of? As it normally happens, it's a question of money. If the producers didnt intend to sell the series to German TV, I doubt they would try to be so even handed.

Exactly Brad. Nothing to be ashamed of , we should feel only pride. World is going pc stupid these days, while back a euro MP thought we should change the name of Waterloo station so as not to upset the French:rolleyes2:
