Bloody Kiwis again! :rolleyes2: what is it with you lot even have a ANZAC Parade a day earlier than OZ! {sm2} And what does PJ not own? :rolleyes2: Got to say some very cool old vehicles there :salute::and almost everyone was wearing shoes too ^&grin

Really neat. Thanks for sharing the news links Toddy. It would've been very nice to see the parade in person. I always like it on Remembrance Day when collectors bring out their old vehicles and guns to take part in the parade.
Cheers,
Brendan

Hey Toddy mate,
Great link cobber. Just returned from the Dawn Service at our local RSL Club. Thought of all my Kiwi mates when they played the NZ National Anthem. Turned to my youngest daughter standing beside me (a copper) and thought of you. Enjoy the day. Not often I enjoy a couple of scotches over a gunfire breakfast (bacon & eggs) but fallen mates must be remember.
Cheers from the Land Across The Ditch, Howard:salute::

Cheers Howard mate, yes was working today and had a nice early start at the main Auckland ANZAC Dawn Parade. As expected it was a big turn out and the choir sang both the Australian & NZ national anthems along with 30 thousand attendee's. Was most impressed how many actually knew the words to the Oz anthem, which was quite moving. Couldn't down anything alcoholic while in uniform, but will make up for that a bit later with a few of the old boys.{sm4}

Thinking of all me me Aussie cousins across the the ditch on this special day, take care....Toddy :salute::

Good to see Toddy. Fortunately appears no security issues around NZ/Oz commemorations today. Some idiot burnt an Aussie flag at a practice event outside Brisbane Shrine of Remembrance yesterday but was quickly taken away by Police.

Brisbane parade a lot longer and much bigger crowds than usual. I could tell by the medals we were mounting that the WW1 interest was significantly increased over previous years. The numbers at Gallipoli itself both at the official events today and on cruise ships etc must be double normal.

NZ is lucky to have Peter Jackson. Some rich guys buy mega yachts etc. but he spends a lot of his money towards Museum displays and vehicles and aircraft etc.

You guys even had a horse and limber in your parade and Jacksons vehicles were impressive.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers Brett, yes we're very lucky to have PJ share his passion for WW1, with displaying his vast collection of WW1 Bi-planes & vehicles, not to mention the big museum displays. He's also behind the construction of a life-size WW1 battlefield & trench system being built near the NZ Armies museum in Waiouru, in the middle of the North Island. It will be finished in time for 2016 WW1 centenary commemorations.

He's got a few more planned surprises up his sleeve apparently, so watch this space.:wink2:

Judging from yesterday's TV coverage Australia had a massive turn-out for ANZAC day and the Dawn service at ANZAC Cove in Gallipoli was impressive too.:salute::

Yes thankfully no real drama's other than a few brain dead, Gang members showing up at in the middle of a couple of Dawn services on their 'Harley's'. At the Auckland service they turned up in the middle of 'a minutes silence' with their engines revving, unbelievable disrespectful, thankfully the boys chased them off after making a scene, otherwise the crowd would have lynched them and rightly so.

Ta for now.
