I am amazed why so many collectors are hooked by WW2 at this point....I guess it sells alone more than all the other ranges together( my impression).I am also very interested by ww2 as it has been the biggest war of all times, and it is so nice collecting tanks, vehicles and so on...The largest part of my dios are about it.

But sometimes I get little tired of it and I like to see something different than ww2 uniforms, tanks everywhere..... While the largest majority of people don't, that s why KC is producing just ww2 in this period pratically ( with exceptions of course)

I guess all manufacturers are so happy and encourage the fact that people ask for more and more ww2 because a ww2 uniform is much cheaper and faster to realize than ex. a napoleonic one...And tanks, planes are expensive..

I heard other people thinking like this, but this is just a consideration as of course each one has his own taste...:)

My interest in WWII was in large part due to my father's participation (FG 361 8th Army Air Corps). He flew the P-47 and P-51. But I was first and foremost and wargamer. I have an extensive collection of 20mm miniatures and terrain for this purpose. I don't know what compelled me to buy the first K&C piece, but I've been hooked ever since. I have run numerous games at the various Historical Miniature Gaming Society conventions, and once, I used my K&C miniatures for a game. But it caused me such stress that I bought some Old Northwest Trading Company figures just for the games.

So, as the prices rise, I have become very discriminating as a collector. I still seek action poses, but only the WWII line rocks my boat. :wink2:

Interesting thread Poppo, i have always had an interest in WW2 from an early age and that has carried through to today with my collection of WW2 figures and vehicles not only from K&C, but also from other manufacturers. I do however appreciate and admire other ranges such as the ACW, WW1 Australian Light Horse and Streets of HK to name a few. If i had the dollars, i certainly would branch out into other ranges but unfortunately i don't, so i just stick to what i enjoy collecting.

WW II as mentioned is quite the popular military era of interest. The European theater is hands down the popular
Choice versus the pacific as has been discussed several if not numerous times here on the forum. My interest is
Collecting figures and vehicles from the Bulge, D-Day, and Berlin 45' with Berlin 38' as a great prelude to war
Series.

For me I've had an almost lifelong fascination with WW1 and WW2 so they will always be a focus. But I very much enjoy looking at figures from the ACW, Napoleonic , Crusades, Ancient Egypt etc. I may not be able to buy them but its always good to see them, this hobby would be sooooo boring if everyone only collected one era, take a stroll round the London show and see just how many different eras and subjects to collect, mind boggling!

I started collecting and displaying toy soldiers or military miniatures, etc in late 1991. It wasn't until the year 2000 that I got into buying WW2 era items thanks in part to the encouragement made to me by Andy Neilson at K&C via an E-mail reply back to me. Alas, there is also the fact that our old WW2 veterans are dying off in great numbers now as they all reach their late 80's and on into their 90's! Collecting and displaying WW2 figures is in part a tribute to our WW2 veterans at least in part I think.

I agree Rob, For me too I made it easier on myself to stick with buying and collecting one era...WWII
Viewing what others are collecting and is always interesting.

WWII has always been a major fascination to me just due to the sheer magnitude of combatants and their kit. My collecting problem has been trying to narrow down my focus because this collecting era can quickly get out of control with the variety of combatants, campaigns etc. I still enjoy dabbling in other era's from time to time just to keep things interesting like Napoleonics, Crusaders, Samurai, Ancient Greeks etc. ^&cool

Why I am hooked by WWII, you can read in the collector magazine "winter 2009" Guy Meire's Belgian portfolio
guy:)

As others have said, my collecting habits also stem from a lifelong interest in military history and WW2 in particular. I have a few Zulu War figures but other than that I solely collect WW2 era - my main areas of interest being Eastern Front and Berlin 38 - although I do enjoy seeing and hearing about what other collectors are into via this forum.

I fully appreciate the workmaship behind some of the WWII vehicles but I have never considered collecting WWII. I must confess I do sometimes find the fascination with Nazi's a little bewildering but each to their own. Not quite as bewildering as people dressing up as them at some of these military shows I sometimes attend. Now, that is odd{sm2}

It had been The Great War all the way for the past eighteen months and that will continue but I have had my head turned by the First Legion Romans this week and dipped my toe in. Not my era at all but they look some of the best figures out there.

I'm hoping that with the centenary fast approaching, the choice of Great War figures will increase exponentially. It deserves more focus.

I am back home and I have just finished my dio on WW1 , I ll put photos here on sunday or monday.I made the trench by myself, and I am very satified by the result, but making a dio well done takes a lotttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt of time and work! I wish someone pays me for doing them {sm3} (I also made a tommy casualty with a marching tommy!)

Look forward to that Poppo.

WW 2 lines (especially K&C’s) appeal to me for many reasons. I think one of the reasons that it appeals to the masses is due to the large amount of media (photographic, but mostly video) that is available on the subject. Sure there are morsels of footage from previous wars, WW 1 has bits and pieces of grainy or ‘jumpy’ footage, but I believe WW 2 marked the age of true moving pictures that were viewed by the masses. You can go on YouTube and find thousands of actual clips of WW2 action. You can’t do the same for the Romans, Napoleonics, American Revolution etc. (well, maybe reenactments, but not actual footage).

I was born in 1950 and grew up in a land that was still recovering from WWII. I used to play on old bomb sites where they still had"nt got round to rebuild on. My Father and uncle both served in the RAF. Enough reason for a life-long interest in all things military...And from playing soldiers i learned more and more which has given me a great respect and wonder of the men and women
who fought and worked for our freedom....Now i collect toy soldiers, but i very rarely look at them without thinking about the real soldiers.

I like machinery, especially military vehicles and aircraft and I find WWII armored vehicles and colorations more attractive than those used in previous or later conflicts.
