Ken,
If, by chance there is a German version of this to be released in the future, and still, the best way to make the piece is to have the horses on one solid base. Then I would throw out this suggestion..have an additional terrain base included that can be placed under the caisson and gun. This would allow for these two pieces to be brought up to a more level height. Pictures do not do this piece justice, it looks great in my display case.

Purchased one , opened it up this week. Nice set. Impressive piece. Figures , limber , artillery and caisson are good.

I was mildly disapointed with the painting and detail on the horses. They was little shading and mine were too black or brown. A downer.

Overall through , I'd grade it out a solid B. Easily could have been better with painting on the horses.
