Below is a photo of some of my Grandfather's comrades (17th RR Engineering Batallion) with a motorcylce and sidecar. The photo was taken by my Grandfather at his base camp somewhere between St. Nazaire and Savenay, France, probably very close to Savenay. (Can you believe the mud . . . what a mess that must have been) Savenay is northeast of the port city of St. Nazaire. I also have a similar photo with my grandfather on the same motorcycle. Both photos are favorites of mine. Motorcycles were much used during WWI and I would really llike to see John produce some, perhaps a British cycle and an Amercian cycle. Anyway . . . . .just a thought on this Thanksgiving morning . . . .
