What are the tanks you need in your KC collection? The must haves...

And what are the ones KC should release to have the lot?

Thanks for your input

i'm not too sure K&C had missed out on any Afrika Korps vehicles, so you might want to check with the Brits.:)

anyway, if you mention 'a must have' for the African campaign, i will go for this baby.:D

I am always a sucker for any accurately done armored car..Michael

I would love to see AMERICANS IN NORTH AFRICA ! :D

K&C could do a NA Patton SL Set - that would be interesting and with this new desert village pieces - I think some GI's with dust on their boots would be cool.

Completely agree..

Cool LOOKING vehicle, no doubt.

But I couldnt help but wonder: How about the interior? How "cool" was it? Did armored vehicles have AC? If not, I would have to imagine it was hellishly hot inside.

Perhaps future crew members should come with large sweat stains... :p

No WW2 tank had any a/c. Armored vehicles are designed for a military purpose and crew comfort rarely entered the equation until the last few years. Tank are hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Go to a monument tank (not uncommon in US parks) and climb on it in the middle of a hot summer day. Now imagine having to live in or around it day after day. The men who actually ran the tanks in any army deserve respect just for the job, with or without the combat.

Yup, we need US medium tanks (M3 and M4A1), a halftrack (M3), a desert M3A1 scout car, jeeps, trucks, 37mm AT gun, halftrack tank destroyer (M3 GMC), M3A1 light tank ("Stuart"), etc. How is that for channelling johngambale?

Here's a 1/76th scale Humber in my collection. From a Matchbox kit.

Richard, some good ideas!! Especially the WASP and M3 with 75mm. I think we need some anti-aircraft armored vehicles. I am still waiting for somebody to do a Wirbelwind and Ostwind in 1/30. And an US M16 would be nice.

Oh dear! Gary, you might be right, are we all turning into John??

Humber armoured car is AWESOME!

Now I am sure CS and Figarti will be in a hurry to produce this!

Polar Bear, That's a NICE model - good work on the armored car and your usual great photography. Keep up the good work.

I don't know if the M16 (quad fifties on halftrack) made to North Africa - I'll have to check photos. I do have shots of the twin-gunned M13 on Sicily. The US did have some T28s - these were the early versions of what became the M15 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage. There was a 37mm auto-cannon with two water-cooled .50 cal Mgs on a turntable (no armored turret like the production M15/M15A1).

For the Germans - I don't know what they had for mobile flak except that I have seen a photo of GIs examining an Sdkfz 10/4 - the 1-ton halftrack with single 20mm gun on the back. The Italians put their 90mm gun on the back of a heavy truck - I don't know if that was from North Africa or Sicily.

Did the British have any motorized AA in North Africa? All I can recall off-hand is the occasional Bren gun on top of an armoured car.
