I'm driving home getting on the Garden State Parkway South when I look over and see a B17 make a slow turn and fly over the treeline. It was almost like it was in slow motion. It was so close I probably could have seen the pilot wave to me. It was a beautiful sight. Then I almost rear ended the car in front of me :). Then I get on the parkway and in the the distance I see a B24 flying over the road east towards the ocean. Turns out the the Allaire airport was having an airshow. Wish I had known about it because they also had a P51 flying around.

In the early 60s when the film, "the war lover " was released,,One of the B17s was doing a promotiomal tour,,my father,48 missions ,RO gunner,,took me to see it at the chicago lake front airport of the time meigs field ,,with the plane on the approach and him not seeing one since the day,,we drove thru two wooden barricades and never stopped,,those airplanes do have quite an effect.
