WWII Personalities (1 Viewer)

Churchill - Starting to sculpt the fingers. I sprayed a white undercoat to reveal areas for improvement.

Hitler - Added some putty to the right hand.

Churchill - cleaned up the figure and sculpted the right hand.

Hitler - readjusted the left arm and added more putty to both arms.

I have started to paint the Churchill figure after another round of cleaning.

I painted the Hitler figure in a basic colour. Still some work required to finalise the sculpt.

The Churchill figure is fully painted.

Thanks Markster.

I am just sharing these simple conversions to show that with a little practice and effort, we can all make and paint figures for our collections.

Whilst rummaging through my stuff, I came across this Patton relic and decided to have another go at it. It was a 1/35 scale SOL resin figure with dog and I had tried to convert it then to a 1/32 scale figure. The face is from NCO Historex. The comparison shows my early attempt side by side with a 1/35 scale Tamiya figure of the same subject.

I decided to redo the legs to achieve the sartorially elegant Patton pose as seen in this old Blandford book picture.

Legs were snipped away and boots readjusted with inserted wires. The trousers were remodeled in stages. Even the tunic was bulked up.

Finally added the details and gave it an undercoat. Mounted it on a base.

I was bingewatching Greatest Events of WWII in colour on Netflix and then got a bee in the bonnet about making another WWII personality.

So I got a couple of legs and I used a suitable face that I had sculpted earlier. So far the work has taken me about a couple of hours.

And then, I got the idea that he would be gesticulating wildly.

Took out Patton and tinkered with it further. Its really easier to sculpt anew rather than to try to modify commercial pieces. Here, I'm trying to scale up to 1/32 from 1/35.
