I just checked the box for the XM02-01 that we have on display at our house...and the cut-outs are axactly the same as the ones in your image.

It's a case of a switched figure.

Mike agrees the set that is shown by NMrocks has a switched figure inside.

The tree and bench should have the santa and bag which is 01 set.

The Dickens figure was sold at a lower price point than we could think of for the size of the set shown by Nmrocks.

I got it on e-bay, it was represented as a Christmas set. It was years ago, and not having much backround info, I bought it, it looked authentic.
