You know you are getting old(er) when ........................ (1 Viewer)

I got a gift card to Best Buy as one of my Christmas presents, so I went to one of their stores here today, haven't been in one in a while.

Wanted to buy some CD's as the last time I was in a Best Buy, they had a huge selection.

It took me ten minutes to find their CD "department", it consisted of one rack labeled A-Z next to the movies department.

Needless to say, their selection was horrible, I asked some 20 something pencilneck what the story was and he proceeded to tell me "People don't buy CD's anymore, they download songs on ITunes, use their MP3 players, their tablets, Ipods, etc, etc".....................he might as well have been talking Greek to me.

Now I know why a local music store chain went under here recently, records, to 8 track to cassettes to CD's to nothing.

Yep, I am getting old.

When you notice every sports figure, football, baseball, basketball etc. player is younger then you.:(...Sammy

Sammy,
Their parents, agents and many of the team owners are younger than me...........{sm2}

Another thing I thought of regarding this; don't bands/singers get paid based on how many CD's they sell; if their songs can get downloaded or you can burn your own CD's, aren't they getting screwed out of money?

Also, how does a CD go to platinum or gold status if they don't sell them anymore?

I guess the whole industry has changed; between CD's and books, I feel for store owners...............

The bad part about hand picking songs with I-tunes etc, is that you won't know about the other songs by the artist, only the hits. By buying cds or records in the old days, you would discover many great songs that had very little radio play.

You know you are getting old when.......you ask a 'younger person' to turn down Led Zeppelin music because it's become to loud {sm2}

True enough, but what about when you have to turn down David Letterman because he's too loud?{eek3} -- Al

At my age, everything is too loud, music wise, with the one exception of AC/DC. There is no turning down AC/DC, because I'm THUNDERSTRUCK! ^&grin^&cool -- Al

Now that does make me feel old - when did CDs become old school? I still have a record player. I am not completely old fashioned - I am prepared to catch the iron horse into town!

I went into a music store the other day in search of a Van Morrison CD, first thing that made me feel dated was of the ten rows of 'goods' in the shop only one had CDs! second was when I asked the lady serving, thirtyish she appeared, did she have any Van Morrison she said 'who's Van Morrison, never heard of her'..........:(
