Brad, this has your name all over it. I did it 20 years ago to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the miracle of '69 and had an incredible time. Only Nolan Ryan and one other guy didn't participate. In the final game, Gary Gentry was mowing down everyone and Tom Seaver struck me out with a nasty curve. Fun for all ages.

I always wanted to do one of those Ed. Maybe someday and hopefully I won't embarass myself. A fellow Mets fan?

1. 2000 Yankees win Subway Series over Mets;
2. 1986-1987 N.Y. Football Giants Win 1st Superbowl over John Elway and the Broncos;
3. 2009 Derek Jeter (my favorite living player) passes Henry Louis "Lou" Gehrig (my favorite player of all time) for the most hits in Yankees history during one of his best ever seasons, where he hit .334, with an on base percentage of .405, he won his 4th Gold Glove, and most importantly to Jeter, he won his 5th World Championship.

From a purely aesthetic point of view, why would you pick the 2000 series. As a Yankee fan, I would have picked 1996, 1977 or 1978 (you probably saw that as a kid). '77 and '78 were very exciting.

Yo Troopers, three great ones for you.

1. 1966 England beat Germany in final to win the World Cup, nearly went through the ceiling from a sitting position when the third goal went in.

2. 1984 Torvill & Dean win the Olympic Gold medal for Ice Skating for their routine to Bolero with 12 perfect scores. Man it just made the hairs on the back of your neck stand up watching it. (Unforgettable)

3. 2003 Rugby World Cup Final, Jonny Wilkinson scores with a drop kick goal with only 26 seconds to go to beat the mighty Aussies (sorry Cobbers) what a moment. I bet even Damian enjoyed that:rolleyes:.
Bernard.

Great choices and have to agree with 100% on these Bernard, certainly magical moments in the sprting world !!!

Torvill and Dean were my Nan's favourites, God bless her. Brings back happy memories of her when I think of that routine.

Because it was a subway series . . . the first in my lifetime. New York was never more into baseball in my lifetime then October, 2000!

Yeah, that's true. God knows when we'll see the next one.

The only thing almost as good would be a Giants Jets Superbowl. That almost happened in 1986 but I seem to remember Gastineau making a stupid hit on Kosar in their playoff game in Cleveland that turned the tide. Otherwise, they would have played Denver in the AFC championship game.

I'm a Brooklyn guy and It was easier to get to Yankee stadium than Shea. It's my business partner who is the Met Finatic from Flushing, Queens. After he went a couple of years prior he dragged me into it. Met alot great guys and players. Clint Hurdle and Bob Apadaca were our team coaches and were great. However, some childhood heroes you are better off not meeting. Don't wait too long, you'll want to able to steel a base or two.

1995 Rugby WOrld Cup Final Ellis Park JHb is the greatest sporting moment in history. If you don't believe me ask two famous Americans (Clint Eastwood and Morgan Freeman)

1966 Englands World cup victory:cool::cool:.Commentator;' some people are on the pitch, they think its all over,(England score) it is now'!!

1981 'Bothams Ashes' when legendary Cricket all rounder Ian Botham's bowlng and batting contributed to a famous summer Test series with Australia.I vividly remember a hot summer with people from all over our office block coming down to the yard to listen to ball by ball commentary as Botham took on the Aussies and won.

1985 'Marvellous' Marvin Hagler v Thomas 'The hit man' Hearns, after much hype and excitement, they traded blows in three of the best rounds of boxing ever witnessed ending with Hagler knocking out Hearns.Classic stuff.

Brad,
The Jets will be in the Super Bowl in 2011.

Mark it down now.

In pen.

They are loaded, they'll win the AFCE, get the #1 or #2 seed and go on to the big dance.

I can't steal it now :D

When I lived in Connecticut and my company was in New York, I used to share a plan with a friend. It was great; I would drive to Shea in the morning, hop the number 7 and walk a block away to work and then take it back at night.

Unfortunately, our company decided to move to NJ in 1993 and it became a real pain to drive to Queens and then have to drive back at night. I hung until about 2001 (of course, missing lots of games) and then gave it up. I used to go to about 12 games a year. Now, I hardly get to any :(

The hassle factor to get to baseball games now makes HD TV a better option.
College football however, is a great 3 day party!

The 1980 USA beating the Russians, then taking the Gold, The 1970 Boston Bruins Stanley Cup , The 2004 comeback on the Yanks, leading to the sweep of the Cardinals.:)

1974 - USC 55 Notre Dame 24 on their way to a share of the NCAA Football National Championship. I was student then and at that game.

2002 - Angels beating the S.F. Giants (the hated ones) to win their 1st World Series

1988 - Kirk Gibson, pinch hit HR in game 1 of World Series to propel the L.A. Dodgers to winning the World Series 4 games 1.

Carlos

I have to add Ali-Frazier I at Madison Square Garden. I wasn't there, but the excitement in the city was incredible. Finally, Tiger Woods winning his first Masters, Jack winning his 6th. Next time we need to do this by sport.

TOP Three Dissappointments

1. Losing 6-0 In the New York City High School Football Championship. I was captain, I'm still not over it.

You get major props from me for playing high school football in New York City.

And living to tell about it.

Me thinks you are one individual not to be messed with.

I should know; I played high school football in the City of Boston, not exactly a walk in the park either......................

Unfortunately, most of my teamates are either dead or in jail. Luckily, I made it out an played football in your neck of the woods.

Ditto; there aren't enough of us left to have a reunion at this point.......:(

Reunion? I may think I'm a tough guy, but I'm not going to my old neighborhood,(Brownsville, Brooklyn) anytime soon. This where Mike Tyson grew up, and he was a punk. Riddick Bowe went to my High School.
