Anyone have an idea what paint color to use for painting the red for the Penn. 114th Zouaves as with Britains? Acyrlics matte finish.......

Try Vallejo Red (029), highlight with Scarlet (026), add a touch of green to the red for shadows. A little Burnt Umber can be added to help the red cover better for the first coat. :smile2:

Thank you very much

I now realize I should have ask about the blues and other colors...thanks for you attention in this matter..........

You're welcome. :smile2:

For the coat, from Andrea's blue set (they are numbered 1-6), base color (1) for the base coat, highlight with 1st highlight (2) and 2nd highlight (3) mixed then (if you feel like it) further highlight with 2nd highlight (3) and 3rd highlight (4) mixed. Shadow with black. Lighter cuffs are 3rd highlight (4).

Alternately, you could use Vallejo Dark Prussian blue (050) as a base for the Zouave coat with a couple highlights of a mix with increasing amounts of Intense Blue (925) and Black for the shadows. I don't know exactly what mix would work for the light cuffs, but Intense Blue, a bit of green and either white or ivory might do the trick. (I like Andrea because their blue paints dry very matte.)

All Vallejo - The tassel is Flat Yellow (015) with a just touch of Scarlet, the canteen is just a grayed up Burnt Umber (148). The russet canteen strap is Red Leather (136) with a darker brown for the shadows.

*Disclaimer - If you have to match them with existing figures, the actual colors used may vary, so tweak accordingly.
