I completely understand how you feel.
However, no company with products made in China will offer you what you are expecting in terms of quality control

The bayonet thing is something that is easily resolved when the manufacturers do not use cast parts but brass or steel add ons. It cost more but it is well worth it.

Some FL figures were made in top notch facility (original french nap old guard figures) while others were just average.. So unless you were able to see the actual figures before buying them, it is a gamble.

One thing to note, I did buy the Austrian Flag Bearer, Christmas time. The year, that it came out, when I visited Sierra Toy Soldier, just because I was at hand at the store, where I can inspect the piece, and avoid the frustration of having a third piece, with the same problem.. never got into the Austrian collection, the way I wanted.

The crushed box, did not have the shipping box crushed, I have HAVEo assume that it got opened and sorted and shipped here at the U.S. so why ship a crushed box to someone that just paid $150+. That should have been prevented. And them saying that A box will be sent. And it being forgotted, was definely a negative experience twice. I Have over 75 items bought from another manufacturer, never had a problem of a missing eye, a mishappen face twice. Paint chips yeah maybe.

Some one mentioned that the figure was aiming, I have shot and aimed at targets, and have observed others do the same. While aiming/ squinting to aim, I have not seen where the pupil has not been shown and just the white is showing.

I did keep the figure. I do not want a gap in the collection. It is still a great range. I will just paint the eye eventually.

Did you send an email to FL describing the problem ? If so I'd be very surprised to hear that you didn't receive great customer service. I have bought many hundreds of figures and have had a few breakage problems over the years but have never had a single problem with First Legion not making it right. regards Gebhard

Gebs,
Yeah, I did. Matt responded, so that is great. But with this aiming thing, where I am seeing a white slit, vs. Eye is semi to full close. Is...... I do not mind paying for something that costs a bit, just as long as There is nothing wrong with it from my eyes, And with me I am drawn first to the face and eye, then to the uniform then to the rest. And even though this is considerably a lot less in price, it is still near perfection is the draw to the figure. Again I love the range, and I am just hoping that there are no other pieces that are aiming with their eyes near close, and maybe a darker shade of color if it is closed. Thanks for the suggestion.

I see you have bad luck. I received much more than 100 figures from FL, 2-3 of them were damaged but always replaced by FL dealer.

I would like to check my astrian flagbearer, maybe all figures have this deffect. But I have all NAP figures currently packed into big boxes, before planned appartament renovation, will not be easy to find it.

Generally FL figures are very fragile, specially thin elements like weapons, what also Alex mentioned in his recent post. Buying older figures second hand like I did a few times in the past on ebay is big risk, because you cannot have any replacement in case of problem.

From other side, I just received 4 pikemen from K&C. Figures are well sculptured, very solid cast. But the painting is really dissapointing me. Technically painting it is good, except very bright/not realistic colors, everything on the figure outlined with black lines... It really looks like taken from some comic book with a cartoon look.
I'm seriously thinking about repainting them myself, because like that they cannot be used on diorama with FL or St. Petersburg figures.

I am wondering it Matt is finished with this line, I am hoping that there would be some more Zulu' s, maybe a cannon, with some artillery gunners to go with it, maybe some Natal natives, and some British Lancers.
I am planning to revisit this range again in a few weeks, I have already hinted to people to buy some pieces for my B-day.
Pretty much every single piece is great looking, love the poses of the pieces. Except for the one drawback in my eyes with one piece. I would rate it as the perfect range that First Legion, have made.

This is a good question, I'd also like to see further additions to the line. I was hoping to see some Mass Battle Zulus.

This Series is definitely not finished and we hope to have the next release maybe towards the end of this year.

Glad to hear it, onwards we go. I do like this range a lot, I have tried to move on. But when ever there is a Lull in my buying I always look at the figures I have not gotten, and a few where I am thinking of buying a second set. And always smile when ever I look at the pieces I have gotten.

I was looking at my collection, and this needed more pieces so I bought three more pieces, and one was a duplicate of the Queens colors ( no not to ever sell, just in case, Something happens to the first one).
Matt mentioned that he is not done with this line, and mentioned that there will be additions at the end of 2017. Hoping that there will be more..... And soon...
