Talk about spoilt for choice, we now have FL, TG, Heritage & Britain's all producing Zulu, not to mention Little Legion if you collect Gloss. Certainly great for collectors who can pick and choose if this era is to their liking. I started 5 years ago, so it's not so over whelming, but I guess there are plenty in the forum who are finding it difficult to know what path to follow. Interested to know the reaction by others on how they are tackling Zulu purchases.^&confuse, Robin.

An interesting post...It is a little surprisingly how 2 battles has spawned so much global interest. I have a complete wbritains collection including all the exclusives so I have decided to say pure. I did it the hard way as I started collecting 3 years after their first release so almost everything came on the secondary market. Not that I am not tempted by conte's quartermaster, Thomas gunn lying down etc are all tempting. The only non wbritains sets I own are first legion special order pont and the rocket battery which I hope Ken Osen will do soon if he is reading this post. The current opportunity is great for someone who is late to the party and can start from the beginning or has allegiance to certain TSC style. Personally I would wait and see what the Zulus look like before purchasing 24th of foot alone as similar to the K&C AG line it took a long time before they got any competition aka Persians.... cheers jay

Got to the party really late, focusing on Isandlhwana.... so it hasn't been too bad cobbling together a collection. To this point it is all Britains, but I like the looks of the new TG figures and will be adding many of them. Could really use a lot of British dead and wounded figures and think the odds are better that we'll see them from TG before WB comes up with new ones. TG seems to be filling the gaps in the WB line with figures laying down firing & loading, firing down from a high position, etc.

Looking forward to FL entry into the period, but will wait to see the first batch of Zulus before getting too involved.

Heritage is still out of touch with how to sell on the internet, not even showing examples of what can be ordered.... So they're a non starter for me.

Good points guys, I also will see what the Zulu look like with FL as the British seem the same poses that I have already. Really would like a rocket team and a selection of mounted figures, so it could be first in that wins. Whilst I would be happy if these were from Britain's, I think there release programme to date suggests nothing this year likely. Will have to rely on TG has they are well known for picking up the gaps in other's series. Might work on Heritage also as they are very capable especially with mounted figures. There were quite a few more Zulu battles that took place after these 2 famous battles and these incorporated Naval personal and Gatling guns, so some more potential there. Jay I would like to see a photo of your rocket battery and pont if you can. Robin.

I started shortly after the first release of the Britains figures so have been collecting for a while. I plan on just sticking with the Britains figures, not really a fan of mixing makers. I have been collecting Britain for almost 35years now so I doubt I am about to change that LOL.

I am sure we will get to mounted figures and other aspects of the war, just takes time :)

It takes longer to get the figures made than the war itself.^&grin

Agree Mark, for a six month campaign to render the Zulu army to a non force, with Britain's introducing it's line of Matte figures in 2008, well you do the math. Still it keeps the hobby alive and no doubt there are new collectors all the time. For me I went searching on google late 2009 looking for something Zulu in figures and discovered by accident Britain's range and at the same time K&C Market Garden series and the rest is history, although I first started in 2007 with the Ancient Egypt series. Scott mix and matching is half the fun and I reckon TG are going to fill in some interesting gaps making it hard for you to resist. ^&grin Robin.

I have always been fascinated with the Zulu battles but, never really started collecting them as I was late to the Britain's party (it would take too long and be really expensive to try and get it all) and not a fan of gloss figures so, the FL range is right up my street. I can collect a range I like from the outset. One thing we know from FL is that they release quite sensibly and the products have a long shelf life so, I can fit in the numbers I would like with WWII commitments and not worry about missing figures through discontinuing.

Robin, sorry for getting your hopes up... they were actually little legions as I had a typo in my original post.... however if First legion does the rocket battery before wbritains than I may have to think hard about a one off defection...

The Pont and rocket are well over due from Britain's considering they have done a vast variety in this range. They are iconic pieces that immediately associate with the Zulu conflict. Sure they will be done, just when. Would have been great to be a Little Legion collector, they have everything. Robin.
