Any news on May releases? Is John going to announce releases for next month or are things too hard due to the current political climate?

Julie normally puts them on mid month and not very often when there is a Monday update, which we had yesterday, i could be proved wrong, hopefully. Releases would have been planned months in advance, so hopefully see them soon, agree on the current political climate, but that is in the US, there is no change in Europe, NZ, UK, Australia, etc for imports.

I am looking forward to new Jacobites.

I asked the same to T Gunn and they should be out this week or early next week.

After what new figures etc that are already in the system and in the process of being released and perhaps for the next month or so, I can't see how the tariffs, will not effect UK, Australia, NZ, Canada, Singapore, Europe etc as far as new releases for collecting Toy Soldiers go, with the US being the biggest market, if, as at present, it's looking likely, the sales of New releases and restocks will be severely hit and new releases halted at least temporary, meaning the cash flow is interrupted.
I'm sure some decisions will have already been made, if only to delay and not outright cancel orders with factories, many of whom, depending on what they produced, have already had US orders cancelled and these workers, will be out looking for employment elsewhere, all having families and bills to pay !

I think we have to wait and see. I suspect May releases have already been produced and orders for output from factory's made a few months in advance.

It may be numbers produced are smaller or suspendetd altogether I suspect a long trade war between US/China will calm down eventually but its how long it persists is the kicker.

Manufacturers and dealers survived Covid lockdown in the main. Let's hope they can survive a Trump administration.

Crossed fingers for a speedy resolution.

Reading some coments from sellers may not have any new releases for May or possibly further until this tariff issue is sorted, for all brands as nothing is out re May releases from anyone

Yes, it's hard not be political about this isn't it.

After all, I like the cheaper prices China's manufactures offers. Yeah, legacy trading/manufacturing is Good and Trump tariff policies are bad, simple right?

The world has been practing tariff wars against USA for decades against USA. Is that "Fair Trade"?

Yes, that's fair, because I like cheaper products (especially my toy soldiers), right?

Guys, the world has changed, this the beginning of a paradigm shift and the pains is going to get worst.

America, is just trying to reposition itself to prepare for the future by incentifying, mining, manufacturing and technology back home while it still has any global leverage remaining. The clock is ticking, no time left for an easy less painful transition.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the real danager, or greatest opportunity, who has the tech, manufacturing and energy will survive and thrive.

But, I want my cheaper toy soldiers and other products made in China. Yeah, that's not going happen anytime soon (IMO). This is about something larger then our love of the hobby.

Here's an idea, somebody take therisk and deploy AI, 3D printing to another country with the availability of painters and raw materials. Disruption causes and pain, then reveals real opportunities!

I think the problem as some US TV presenters have said, no one in the US will work for $1 or $2 and hrs, thats why things are cheap from China , extremely low wages , but in their society it works well, it does not in the west, even Australia, imagine a painter of toy soldier on $30 hr , toy soldiers would be a minimum of $150 each, hobby will die, this hobby is just an example.

Why does everyone assume the US is the largest toy soldier market worldwide. I have never seen recent data that that is true. We might be surprised.

I did some work for a TS company and over twice the amount of stock went to the USA than it did to the rest of the world combined. Can you name a country which would be bigger?

No one in the US will work for $1 or $2 and hrs, too right they should not, i also think the wages in China are higher than that, as these are skilled or not semi skilled painters. They can get paid that because of the cost of loving there. The main reason for moving was cost, but that was driven by 2 things, the almost lust for cheap clothes, toys, etc in the West, but mainly profit, it was companies and manufacturerss that moved out there to make more profits. Not so much TS but in general, higher value goods such as electrons and machines machines etc, which have become as a % of income so so much cheaper, but profit margins have stayed the same if not increased.

If it was not for the Chinese we would not have a viable hobby, as there could not be the affordable high quality products.
