WWI German 210mm Howitzer (2 Viewers)

I acquired the set "23054 - 1918-16 German 210mm Howitzer" on the secondary market a while ago and started thinking about the best way to display it. So I did some research and watched some footage of the actual howitzer.

I think that the maker of this gun has made it with the sliding breech open !

The gunner on the right is pulling the firing lanyard, but the breech should be shut!

This is one that I asembled and painted, and it shows the sliding breech closed, like it would be when firing.



And here is the 'Real thing' outside Victoria Barracks in Melbourne, Australia.



Maybe they don't know how a gun works ????

I know, and the breech seems to be fixed in place and can't be closed. I tried, but it didn't work (at least not without damaging the model...). I guess they built the howitzer first and the figures afterwards and didn't think about it again... not sure... To make it accurate, I would have to use different figures, but I especially like the ones in this set because of their dynamic firing poses. Usually, gunners are depicted in loading positions, which would fit here but would be more standard. So storytelling over accuracy... and another flaw in a set that collectors just have to live with I try to take it easy, live and let live.
