Things that I really like (4 Viewers)

I also have watched The Wire several times. While it is called fictional, I can confirm to you as a Maryland resident that it is based wholly on true stories. Its writer was a former Baltimore Sun writer. It is a sad but true tale, but told in a very entertainment friendly way through a whole cast of characters. Unfortunately, the story is the same today in Baltimore City. Still great entertainment.

I also like the HBO series - Rome, Deadwood and Boardwalk Empire. Again, all had some truth behind the fiction. Of those 3 - Boardwalk Empire kept the historical line the closest.

Other great binges - Yearly, I also watch the Smokey & The Bandit Movies as well as Cannonball Run. The former contains probably one of my favorite fictional characters of all time - Jackie Gleason as Sheriff Buford T. Justice. Also the music of Jerry Reed fits in well too. The other annual watch of course is Kelly's Heroes with the often quoted character of Oddball played by Donald Sutherland. Again, pure comedic gold all around. Regarding movies, about the only modern day movies I can watch over and over are the Pirates of Caribbean franchise due to the not possible to duplicate Johnny Depp.

Got to agree with you on The Wire. Most of that is 100% accurate. I can relate to when they have scenes in the housing projects. Those scenes are exactly like the housing projects I worked in. One of the greatest scenes was when that one white detective stopped the dude and ask him where he got his baseball cap where the brim is on the side? The dude responded, "no man you just turn the hat sideways". completely unaware that he was being mocked. When I was working they had two different ways they wore the bb caps. Don't remember the exact position that they wore but one meant they were a gangster the other they were a player ( kinda a ladies man".) There is a whole different world out there.

In my opinion Band of Brothers is still one the best HBO series that they have ever made.

Each year on Memorial Day they replay every episode.

I watch them all that day, both out of respect and admiration.

Could not agree more with this, even with a historical flaw or two, it's still an outstanding piece of work.

I watch it usually once a year. That and Tinker Tailor are the only two series I repeatedly watch.
