Does the 88 gun life out of the truck in the same way the gun lifts out of the hummel:) and could we get a picture of the other side of 88, as some of the figures are hidden in the photo. :)

Not sure if it lifts out redhugh. Not got it yet in stock. However this is the seated guys from the other side.

One out, all out! :D
It was a valiant battle earlier this afternoon, but alas one I was destined to lose. I was armed with a somewhat blunted wit, desperate pleas and copious quantities of grovelling.
He was armed with an array of needles, probes :)eek:), scalpels, pliers, drills.....
He was a man on a mission, and it wasn't pretty. The horror, oh, the horror!.

I'm now dribbling blood on to the keyboard as I type, trying to drink luke warm coffee and missing quite spectaculaly and trying to smoke a cigarette with a blood clogged filter (there's got to be a subliminal message in that one)

Still, in a few months time, I'll have some new ones that will give me a Tom Cruise look-a-like winning smile. I'm hoping after recieving the bill for todays treatment, that I'll be getting a bank account to match

Right, off now to scare the kids :)D imagine the icon minus teeth  yeah, that's better )

Now, that's the way the KC set should look IMO. That's a splendid looking dio. Isn't that a Sd.Kfz 9 Famo vehicle conversion with the 88? If so, shouldn't the KC vehicle be a little larger? I'm just wondering.

Rob

Carlos,

I think this is a different vehicle. The model, as you say, looks to be the Sd Kfz 9, while the K&C looks to be the Sd Kfz 8, and therefore a smaller vehicle.

Simon

I think the recently retired K & C halftrack was the later version (six road wheels aside) of the SdKfz 7 which was a 8 ton vehicle mostly used to tow the well known 88 mm AA/AT gun.

The larger SdKfz 8 weighed 12 tons and was used to tow heavier guns including the 8.8 Flak 41 that weighed more than the earlier 88s. This halftrack looks similar to the SdKfz 7 but had solid rather than spoked front wheels.

The new K & C halftrack (SdKfz 9) is even larger weighing 18 tons as a standard towing vehicle and 25 tons with the 88 mm mounted on the rear platform.

I think that's too small to be a FAMO. SdKfz 9

I agree and now that I look at the top of the armoured cab it isn't all the way across as it is on the SdKfz 9 conversion, so it must be a Zgkw 12 ton conversion with the smaller cab allowing it to fire head on. This vehicle was larger than the recently retired halftrack but not as large as the 18 ton Famo.

Rod, those photos are of the larger 18 ton (Famo) full armoured cab version, the K & C model is based on the smaller 12 ton Sd Kfz 8 that had a lower armoured cab with a higher section for the driver.

Does anyone know yet if the 3 figures on the Halftrack/88 are removable? Hard to tell from the pictures.

Eric Proscher

I certainly hope they are. I am getting tired of the figures that can't be moved and I would like every maker to stop it, "Just stop it". ;)

That's a quote from Bob Newhart on a Mad TV schetch with Mo Collins. She was afraid of getting buried in a box and his (Newhart) advice was to "stop it, just stop it." He had the same advise for whatever her problem was, so all makers, please, "Just stop it." :);)

Well, they 'look' like they are removable, but until recently I've been seeing the vehicle as having a full cab
