Gimme a break. I waited and watched this item all week. At the last minute this guy cancels and says the item was listed in error and did not have it. C'mon! The item was heading to go for about retail an LAH 68. What a cretin. Should I file a complaint or wait until he lists it again and then complain?

He's entitled to do it as far as I can tell. I don't think complaining will get you anywhere.

Was that you Kilty? I was tracking it as well, I thought someone had bid and the i checked it about an hour out and there was no bids and so I bid. I was curious because i don't ussually make those mistakes, so i checked the bids and he cancel 3 bids!!! they all said out of stock but the auction went on!! I was waiting for him to cancel me as well, but he never did and 3 bids later as you said it closed around retail.
Totally bizarre?!?!? I think it deserves a complaint, if he didn't have it cancel the **** auction, thats toying with people:mad::mad::mad:

Brad, you're probably right there, ebay is totally unresponsive in the past and I'm sure it's much worse with all the "Better" rules and protections(Better for Ebay only!)

Had you made a bid, or were you only watching?

I have to agree with Brad, ultimately the dealer has the right to cancel, up to 12 hours before the scheduled end of the auction, and there are no winning bids on the item (that's from eBay's policy book). We might not like it, and I don't mean to be flippant, but, that's life.

I was watching an auction for a Rose kit of the Imperial German Garde du Corps mounted standard bearer. I'd never seen this kit in the flesh before, so I was psyched. Now, I don't usually put a bid on an auction early on, unless I know that I will not be near a computer when it ends. I prefer to be around when it ends, and bid at the last minute. The disadvantage to that strategy is that if it turns out that I can't access the auction at the end, I will miss the object. I did in this case, I missed the end. I contacted the seller through eBay's message utility and asked if he were going to relist the item, and he said no. As Hyman Roth said in "Godfather II", I let it go. That's life. Now, if I ever see that kit again, I'll snap it up, as best as I am able. But, so ist das Leben!

Sorry, this isn't that comforting, or sympathetic, I guess, it's just an observation.

Prost!

What do you mean winning bids. There were at least three or four bidders. And he did not cancel 12 hours before it was two minutes before! There was no reserve. Anyone wants to know who he is pm or email me. I want this guy.

Very strange, I noticed that he has done business with several highly respected board members, and they all left positive feedback. Perhaps he made a private deal and just didn't know how to end his auction?

I don't know, it just seems very unusual.

Regardless I will make it a mission to clobber him on ebay 800 plus not with standing. This guy is a cretin.

If nobody complains then ebay will do nothing.

I don't disagree, nothing like following and auction and having it just disappear........very strange!

I certainly understand the frustration of following a bid that is withdrawn at the last minute. It may be a mistake but mistake or not, losing things at the last minute is a fact of life on ebay. Another reason I use an automatic bid snipper. Then when I am frustrated, at least I didn't waste my time watching the bidding.

So again with the bid sniper! Please pm me with details.

Will do, it is can't solve ever problem and you can still be out bid but it has saved me much frustration.

Its the ebay policys that cause the problems. 99.9% of the people are honest people. Its when two people interpet a policy or rule a different way.....thats when the problems start and ebay or paypal are rarely any help. Keep in mined ebay is their for Ebay and its shareholders us common folk have to watch out for ourselves. I am sure many are like me who swear we will never buy or sell on ebay again and then a month goes buy and we jump back in again. Tricky game this ebay! The one thing I give ebay credit for is the friends I have made all around the world and even close to home all who I would have never met without ebay!

I agree with the friends made remark...I have been able to strike up some long distance aquaintences ,with some wonderful folks, because of ebay transactions...Michael

Certainly my experience as well. To me Ebay is neither good nor bad, it is a tool that expands opportunities for commerce. It is not the rules that are at fault, but the fact that with any interaction between people there is the possibility of differing expectations and interpretations. Frankly, I am amazed it works as well as it does. Mostly I thinkt that is because of the people who use it.
