Had you made a bid, or were you only watching?
I have to agree with Brad, ultimately the dealer has the right to cancel, up to 12 hours before the scheduled end of the auction, and there are no winning bids on the item (that's from eBay's policy book). We might not like it, and I don't mean to be flippant, but, that's life.
I was watching an auction for a Rose kit of the Imperial German Garde du Corps mounted standard bearer. I'd never seen this kit in the flesh before, so I was psyched. Now, I don't usually put a bid on an auction early on, unless I know that I will not be near a computer when it ends. I prefer to be around when it ends, and bid at the last minute. The disadvantage to that strategy is that if it turns out that I can't access the auction at the end, I will miss the object. I did in this case, I missed the end. I contacted the seller through eBay's message utility and asked if he were going to relist the item, and he said no. As Hyman Roth said in "Godfather II", I let it go. That's life. Now, if I ever see that kit again, I'll snap it up, as best as I am able. But, so ist das Leben!
Sorry, this isn't that comforting, or sympathetic, I guess, it's just an observation.
Prost!
Brad
