Wm Hocker Highland Games set (1 Viewer)

The vendor not has some excellent Hocker sets but some interesting WBs

I have heard of them but not seen any. Not sure a 45mm soldier would attract my interest

Hi Guys,

Yes they made a few of the B scale sets. They seem to be popping up a lot more lately not really sure why. I wouldnt mind getting a few for the collection as talking pieces but I agree the scale is just a little too small for me.

I have bought from this vendor he was good to me on the shipping however if the items are unboxed make sure you contact him about really doing a good job on the wrapping of things like bayonets. I had one arrive bent but not broken. But they were loose figures with no box so that usually spells some damage in transit.

All the best

Seller has a very interesting selection.

Seller is a great guy from VA. I bought some Hocker direct from him, very fair, good to deal with!

Some of the Hocker prices have exceeded what Bill Hocker sells them for. Set 80 -Fanti transport has a bid of 203 and it retails for 180

Here's that phenomenon again, in which buyers on eBay agree to pay prices far in excess of current retail, for items still available direct from the maker. Interesting.

Hi Guys,

What this says to me is there are many, many un-informed buyers out there who refuse to take a minute and peruse a website or two to see the retail prices. I am constantly amazed when people spend far in excess of what a set goes for when that set is still available from the maker. Its one thing if the set is no longer available or the retailer has gone the way of the Dodo but to be so poorly informed is just ridiculas.

All the best

Yours truly has goofed up on occasion, too, and bought things that turned out to be still in production. Monogram aircraft kits, for example (a P-51D, the P-38, P-40B). That made me realize I needed to do a little more homework.

Prost!

Here is one possible explination. I don't follow this line, I don't know if its

current, or no longer in production. I thought the set of Highland Games was

quite interesting and might have bid on it, except I'm over flowing at the

moment. I'm sure quite a few people see an item they like, which is not

available, or familiar to them and they bid on it.

Everyone has to start someplace, over the years I have made numerious

Impulse purchases before I was completely aware of current values.

In 1972 I bought my first Lionel Train from an antique shop in NJ, by 1975 I

had published a price guide for them. Same is true for Smith/Miller trucks,

Dinky Toys, and Neptune Waterline ships.

I stumbled across several cases of Revell & Renwal Military Models Kits

having not seen any since I was a teenager . Several months later after

some amazing sales, I wrote an article about them for The Toy Shop.

You really can't compare your personel experience with someone you don't

know. Its difficult to determine why they might bid on an item on Ebay.

What is even more amazing is this particular seller if you notice was kind enough to list the retail prices in his listings!!!!!!!!!

That is a really nice set. One of these days when I am rich and well I am famous here anyways. So when I am rich I will go to Bills' place and buy all the stuff I want. And then I will put them in my Guest house / museum where I will sit and actually play with my soldiers. Complete with sound effects!

He really is a great guy, I bought the Balloon set as well as an elephant set from him, way too cool stuff.
