Hi,
Does anybody have any information or pictures on the Rough Riders series? When were they released/discontinued, where thy popular etc etc?

Thanks!!

Pete

I believe they were an exclusive item made for Kings X toy soldiers in San Antonio Texas

4th Hussar is correct. I'm not sure when they were discontinued but I happen to like them and have many of them. If you look at Bill Sager's website, you should be able to find some information about them. If you can't find the links, please let me know.

In addition, there were glossies Rough Riders, Teddy Roosevelt mounted, with marching Rough Riders. They're quite nice (and took me awhile to get them).

Cheers,
I've just been watching the film 'Rough Riders' on DVD (Highly recommended), and I seem to recall there was a K&C series at some time. I've looked on Bill Sager's web site but the pictures are very small. Are they rare?

Wish they were still available. Very interesting, but pretty much unknown conflict over here in the UK.

Pete,

Look at page two of the Winter 1993 brochure and you'll see the glossy ones. Then, take a look at the 2001 Rough Rider brochure, which are all matte.

The glossies show up every now and then on ebay but not often.

In the matte series, the single soldiers show up with some frequency. However, the mounted ones don't show up that often and can command decent amounts. You'll also notice that there is a Defense Works Trench. That's not that easy to find.

Hope that helps a little.

Pete,

It's a little hard to see the glossy ones too well so I can take a photo of mine and post it if you like.

A while back there was a post about the Rough Rider series which was clarified by Andy.
I believe there were some matte RR as an exclusive to Kings X, but there also was a regular K&C issue Rough Rider set of which I have. I believe it was issued right around the time that DVD you were watching was origionaly on tv.
I do know there is a difference in the Kings X & regular K&C issue.
Back in 2002 when I first started collecting K&C, I began picking up the Rough Riders at the 02 OTSN show. I found some rough riders in a room, I believe 2 matte riders, however the seller said they were K&C but there was a slight difference in appearance between these and the ones I had just bought so I passed on them. As it turned out they were the Kings X RR. I later got a K&C brochure depicting the RR set and those 2 mounted were not on it.
On another note a lot of the K&C RR,s are basicly repaints of the 7th cavalry figures from the West set.

The 93 Roughriders ( Teddy plus two troops) was the set I bought at the Westcoaster. As I recall I bought it from a lady named Smith and it came form Kings X. Sold it a few years latter, probably not a good move since I think I broke even or lost money..........................

Tom Dubel has a couple on e bay.Spanish machinegunner and a German officer.
Mark

Mark is correct, I have 2 that came from a lot of others I bought, yet I already had these, so back into the mix they go.
