Things to consider while still at RETAIL ! (1 Viewer)

I have a few moments to post before having to run off to a golf game and I thought this would be an interesting subject to cover.

With the economy on a roller coaster ride and the wave of socialism coming into the White House with both candidates - I thought we as Toy Soldier Collectors should discuss what opportunities are on the market right now AT RETAIL !

Too many times we miss items that we all say "I should have bought that one..." So here is my top four BEST RETAIL BUYS for your collections. I would also be interested in hearing everyone else thoughts on best buys too !


1) AK 26 - Desert Transport (One extra figure) - This is a great set which you will wish you had bought three for collection. This type of vehicle can be use multiple times in a diorama and the extra figure looks cool. $79.00 Retail.

2) AK 30 - Panzer II Tank Set (Three extra figures) - The best of all my picks for value - three Italian Black Shirt soldiers come with this set !! - you won't find a better buy for a tank and figures in K&C ! $105.00 Retail

3) FW 13 - German Staff Car Set (One extra figure) - If you collect WWI or even think you might - this set is a great buy. The detail work on the car is outstanding and the German Officer figure is cool. This will be another on of those "Why didn't I buy three ? " Items. $79.00 Retail

4) FW 34 - German Armoured Car Set (One Extra Figure) - a very cool looking vehicle and a wonderful figure to own even by himself ! $79.00 Retail.

OK - Got to go - so lets hear some other thoughts !

I think in general if you can find a K&C vehicle that is under $100 USD - BUY IT !

I agree and if you can find any K & C sets at retail under $100, you should think about if, if you can afford it.

For example, if you go to the Treefrog site, under Retired and go to King & Country WW II, you'll find many a figure set (3 or more), around $90 or so, and vehicles around $100 (give or take $10). As we know, prices tend to go up, not down.

I might point out the AK30 that Ron mentioned is very similar to the WS41

set currently being discussed on another thread for being so valuable!

This piece could also turn out to be a sleeper!

I also like WS091 Really Cool Car + 3 figures $99.

WS100 Come On, Cool item + 2 figures $119

EA016 Nice Tank + 3 figures $99

Lastly we have Njja01 available for swap for Ocean Front Home on LBI

I received my M5 Stuart last week from Treefrog, and the three figures that come with it are fantastic. I needed a tank that would fit on my M12 diorama, and at $79.00[used $10.00 treefrog coupon], it was a no brainer.

I recently got the Stuart Tank and it is indeed a very good one.One thing i'm determined to get before it retires to the Car Park for discontinued vehicles is the Grey Kubelwagen.I've got the summer version but in Grey its somehow very evocative and essential for a WW2 collection.

I have been debating whether or not to start WWI. Now I think I will as the WWI Kaisers car & armor car are steals at those prices.

I have been considering that WWI German staff car for some time....may break down if it gets retired. Seems like an excellent price for such a nice set.

Njja - I agree that Citron Car is cool - great price for the figures with it.

That French Prisoner can go with lots of other diorama ideas. And that RAMJAMMER SET - the figures themselves are worth $50.00 USD each (IMHO) - to heck with the plane - I love that German Officer.


Rob - I know what you mean on WWI - I have a collection of it - but, that Armour Car and German Staff Car are simply two items to have extras of for sure

I tell you - everyone should just go down the Treefrog Site and buy those $79.00 and under $100 Vehicles - because we will NEVER SEE THOSE RETAIL PRICES AGAIN !

Times are tough - but, man - there are some good deals just sitting out there waiting at retail - still !

OK - this has become like a quest for me to find all the Retail Deals still out there in the K&C World - Hope you guys do take advantage of some of them.

HERE ARE THE THREE BEST DEALS FROM FoB:

FoB 20 - Kubelwagen - great set - goes with everything and the figures are very cool Retail : $95.00 USD

FoB 31 - French 75 Gun - Artillery is always a keeper, this set is tops - I always love the wounded guys when they are added to a set - that one guy alone is worth $50 bucks for a FoB diorama - real steal - Retail : $105.00 USD

FoB 37 - French Renault R35 Tank - Again the figures make the set and the little tank is cool too. Once Again - I LOVE THE DEAD AND WOUNDED GUYS - very hard to get Andy to make more of these - this Tank Set is complete & a real steal too. Retail : $105.00 USD

What is the 10$ coupon from treefrog ?

The Panzer with 3 italians is perfectly done and a real steal at this price. I bought it 2 weeks ago and man I'm so happy with it. The 3 guys are well donce and 1:30 not 1:32 so it's a keeper. I just bought also the DUKW this week long time retired but still available here in Montreal... Gorgeous.. Huge..and the 2 guys with it are also 1:30. A must have for DDAY fans.

Just a point of clarification though--Rivet Rewards aren't coupons, they are earned vouchers for future purchases.
