Hi,

just got back after a hectic people scrum in the centre of London...recession...what recession.

I've taken 168 photos, so now need to do some editing and so on, so please give me some time.

Highlights:

My new K&C Crimean and Britains Zulu figures.

Britains 2009 releases and incoming British WWII K&C.

Will upload report soonest

Rgds

Andy:)

Did Little Legion have any new sets available?

Thanks for the effort. Looking forward to hearing more about it. Also, have been wondering if K&C unveiled another "new" range at the show like they did in Chicago this Fall.

Cannot wait to see some photos of new stuff and familiar people. :)

You always give fantastic reports on teh London show so I am looking forward to it.
You are to London what Steven Chong and Carlos are to the West Coaster and Chicago.
Thanks in expectation

(1 of ?) Gents,

Pretty cold day in London today but it was bright which does make a change. Both halls of the London show were hives of activity and all the sellers told me it was an extremely busy show. Still didn't meet any of the UK froggers (again) but spoke to the K&C gang, Clive, Mark and all the other regulars. Anyway back to the show.....

......starting with Britains.

A number of their 2009 catalogue were previewed and you can see from the images that the quality continues to rise. I must admit I was surprised with the French Cavalry as I collect their WWI range and although I concentrate on the Brits and Germans these figures are certainly worth having. I don't know what else they have in store for WWI but these look good. I captured the new gloss figures and napoleonics, I leave it up to the respective collectors to identify them. Also there were new ACW with Union cavalry, leaders and two sets of infantry. The Zulu war was represented with both matt and gloss figures.

Britains and K&C amount to probably 80% of my collection, so no surprises as we now move over to King & Country. My main acquisitions were the Thin Red Line, The Rescue, WSS121 and NA87 (Sgt Ewart capturing the Eagle). Granted, the Nap set is a present for someone else, and I can't start another collection but.... I truly do like it.
Met Andy for the first time today, and I've honestly haven't met anyone else with as much enthusiasm for the hobby. Speaking to him on a few things and British WWII cropped up. Sorry no Firefly (yet!), but there will be some new British infantry (Normandy/30 Corps) sold in single sets. Don't know numbers but there is going to be quite a few and a tank. The good old Cromwell all of which are going to be released in 2009. I did ask Andy if I could write this in my report and he said yep. The other new release is also Britih and as you can see from the image its the RAF turn with WCdr Guy Gibson and two other airmen. The Crimean series goes from strength to Strength and the horse in the Rescue set is probably the best K&C horse has ever done. Prices up yes, but if quality goes hand in hand then whats the problem.
Two more Britains graphics and then the start of K&C.

The next couple of images are of the TRL set-up, something which in my own way I'm trying to catch up to....

After spending a fair bit of time in K&C UK, it is now off to see Uncle Clive at the Figarti store (Grey Goose).

Figarti have improved out of all recognition from when I first saw them selling the Chinese Civil War (8RTE) a few years back. Their figures then were good but now there on a different plane. I particularly like their 8th Army and AK figures and if it wasn't for other "Pre-planned" stuff today I certainly would have bought the odd set or five. Don't just look at the figures in the imagery have a look "live", and then you will decide to get them. The Grant "Cambrai" as seen in the following images is a Limited Edition (30 - Clive please say otherwise if I'm wrong) tank done for Grey goose. Again quality is good and I would love to have one myself but I've pre-planned my spends for a while now and I think their be gone before I can get one (becoming a familiar theme). The Tank Factory was produced by TM Terrain (next port of call) and is a very good base to showcase models (how about a Stalingrad collection next). The image again doesn't do it justice. The prototype MKIV was also on display as at Chicago and the detailing is above what is currently in the market. Take your pick on theatre when its finally done but me thinks its going to be Normandy (AK PZIV/Winter PZIV?). On the whole I like Figarti and already have a number of their models, I just want more......

And so on to TM Terrain.

Firstly the Terrain is superb and they had a whole line of ruins, landscapes and other bits and bobs for the discerning collector. Previously I had wanted to get the First Legion British Guards, but with their unavailability I had a good look at the CS Napoleonice and Civil war figures. CS are another company who have made great strides since their appearance on the market a few years back and I have one of their Tigers and some other bits. I do like their Naps but I have sold myself to First Legion's Brits and will wait for these in Jan/Feb 09. The Civil War figures are very good especially their newer figures such as Berden's sharpshooters which I nearly got today and so they fall into the category of figures that I would like but probably won't happen (again these figures are far better "live" than looking at images). I like my Tiger but today decided against the Stug because it did not strike me as a must have. Its nice but (?). I finished off my JJD Battle of Snowshoes today by buying the new French Regulars and so this series is now finished in my book and First Legion Brits and French will take its place.

More Figarti images and the TM Terrain models.

I'm going to give this a rest in a minute as I have numerous Glossy imagery and other stuff still to process.

Onto JG Miniatures, and my normal habit of collecting a couple of bits & pieces continued with the purchase of 2 more trees and some scrub. Unfortunately, the new items had gone before I got there so I took some stock photos of his products.
