What's up with the super secret Limited Edition HK168: The Village Gateway?
It was not in the April Dispatches nor is it on the K&C site and was only issued in small quantities to dealers, and is essentially sold out and is made of metal rather than polystone. Even the flyer (below) is not on K&C's site. Any insiders with info on this unusual release process? Will we see more done this way in the future? How are collectors supposed to know about things like this? The only place I know of that made it known to collectors was our own Treefrog Rivet.

What about the new winter Tiger. I think each dealer only got two and there is no pamphlet at all. I will post a picture when mine arrives next week.:D

This morning I pre-ordered both AK050 (SL) Rommel's Desert Outpost and AK051 (SL) Dorchester Armoured Command Vehicle . ;)

Hope I am not giving away state secrets here but I ordered 4 as soon as I received the email (about an hour after it was sent out) and was only able to get three. This was despite pointing out the 4th one would be for me personally !!
Have not received them yet but I was surprised so few were available as a very nice piece that with some more marketing time could have sold a lot more. Goes well with SOHK, Imperial China and even USN figures.
Regards
Brett

This is one that K&C should re-think because there are lots of folks who would have liked to use it with the new USN line. So why didn't they do a general release? Were they testing the waters? Why metal rather than polystone? It's a real shame that such a beautiful piece vanished so rapidly. I hate to think what they will go for on e-Bay:eek:

Thats funny. But any way I dont collect this range so its not a big surprise to me.

If it's a dealers only issue, that's why it was so quiet. I certainly heard nothing about it. However, since this range is probably not a huge seller in the US, I'm wondering why they made this particular one a dealers only. Perhaps it was just offered to dealers who do well in SOHK or, as Randy says, a test issue as it's a different composition.

As a dealer I was not aware or did not consider this a "dealer" release. It is just something with a very limited supply. Note even K&C have not listed this on their web site.
The comparison I make is with the 10 Mounted Napoleonics released three years ago where dealers could only order once and could only get a maximum of 10 per piece. This release is even more exclusive than those and with less time to order.
With more marketing and images with the USN figures displayed in front of it I have no doubt far more could have been sold over time.
Will be very interesting if one does appear on Ebay (if you have one and plan to list it use the USN figures !!).

Brett

I am opening up offers at $3,000 or an entire run of the Silk Road collection. Please inquire within.............:D:D:D:D

Just kidding, not for sale.

Yesterday I received my HK168 and I did some quick shots to show how it looks. It is very well done but very different. No polystone this time but rather made out of sheet metal. The construction reminds me of the tin litho toys, except of course that this one doesn't have printed but rather raised details.
To show the scale of it I placed one of the Britains Black Watch figures in some pictures. It is a very good size and it is actually a "Gate" for the 1/30 or 1/32 figures and not just a big "Door".
Now I just am so curious when we find out how many of those pieces were actually done.

Kogu,
thanks for the pics, I am really stoked on seeing this one when it arrives to me, really looks neat.

Tom

Yes Ron, all smiles. Of course Silk Road Elephants, Oxen, etc are tempting!

A tip for those who are keen to know how many made.
If your dealer was awake when he received his Gates ask him if he saw the carton for HK168. On the side it has the number of cartons and I can tell you there are 4 per carton. I won't reveal the number but it is an extremely rare item compared to anything K&C has done this century not in0cluding warbirds.
Regards
Brett

That sounds exciting :)
I am sure one day we will find out how many exactly were made

Did anybody find out yet how many of these gates were made ?
