Spanish American War American Gangsters? Why absurd, they'll be making Nazis or something.;)

How about early 1930's era U.S. Naval aircraft carrier ops. A section of flight deck with those gorgeous, colorful bi-planes, deck crews, mechanics, armorers, and of course, the pilots. Could be done on a limited basis with one or two aircraft in 1/32 scale. Who wouldn't love a representation of the Lady Lex or the Sara in their home? Naval aviation rules. -- lancer

Ancient Battles of the Bible. I was just watching an episode of this series on the Histroy Channel. Herbew battles against the Caanites or the Philistines,
David vs Goliath.

Late 19th Century European Wars for me. Italian War of Independence, Austro-Prussia and Franco-Prussian Wars. Especially FPW, picklehaubes and kepis all the way!

Some interesting eras that haven't been covered, or haven't been done in any depth;

Mexican-American war

the American War of 1812

Spanish American War (we have seen "Rough Riders" but what about regular infantry, artillery, Marines, the Spanish defenders and some Cuban insurrectos)

Arab-Isreali Wars - 1948, 1967, 1973

I also have to ask; What the heck? "American Gangsters"????? They weren't soldiers, they weren't really organized, basically just sociopaths that made Carribean pirates look friendly.

While I would love to see the Trojan War done comprehensively, there are some Russian figures done for it. Of course the full war would be exceptional. Perhaps Conte will do "Troy".

Almost everything has been done in kits or in Gloss finish over the years. Here are a few things I would love to see, or work on myself in pre decorated Matte style.
The Romans in the Teutoburger Wald 9AD.
The English Civil War.
The Seven Years War in Europe.
The French Revolutionary Wars.

Although there are some excellent choices in pre decorated Matte style at the moment, I would love to see additions to:
The Battle of Hastings.
The French & Indian War.
The Indian Wars in the Old Northwest Territories (US).
The War of 1812
The Plains Wars, post Civil War.
WWII NW Europe, Rhine Crossing.
Viet Nam, Tet Offensive.

There are always plenty of others but these are on my radar for the moment.

I would like to see some modern troops (1980's-1990's):

Soviets and Mujahadeen, Gulf War, Grenada, Just Cause, etc.

Amen to that! Modern troops are hardly touched. Figarti produced a nice line, and K&C did the short lived SF series, but I'd grab any new ones in a second.

Wraith,

I would like to see Just Cause especially, last major combat jump of the US airborne!!! I would love to see somebody make a diorama of the Soviets withdrawaling across the bridge in defeat! Then perhaps a Clint Eastwood figure from Heartbreak Ridge!

IMHO the Seven Years War is so overlooked it's almost scandulous! Next to WW2, Naps and Ancients/Medievals it has to be a most popular period....surely?! Incidentally, a couple of us were talking about this at work just the other day and agreed that we would do some serious mortgage money on this period.

The Seven Years War is VERY overlooked. A great period to study. But the above statement is, IMO, very location sensitive. In the U.S. the 7YW has a very small following (excepting, of course, the FIW) and would not make a collector's most popular list. WW2, ACW, would certainly head any list as would Naps and Knights but I do not know if 7YW would even be on the radar (but it would be nice) over on this side of the pond. JMO. -- lancer

I have never seen anything on the Franco Prussian War

Very true! If I think of toy soldier makers who featured it in their catalogs, I think first of Heyde and Mignot. The smaller German makers of rounds also did. And for kit figures, Stadden/Tradition feature the Franco-Prussian War in their catalog, and I think Russell Gammage did, but that's all a very small percentage of output.

I'm excluding the current connoisseur kit and figure makers, but there, too, that war really represents a tiny fraction of the whole catalog.

Very well represented in flats, though.

Prost!

I agree with both of your statements-that the Seven Years War proper would be a subject in which I'd like to see more figures produced, and that over here, there wouldn't be as much interest, as on the Continent.

I'll also add, I don't think the option of "Ticonderoga-French and Indian War" really fits in a poll whose theme is "lines that haven't been done." I think there is a relative wealth of figures from that period available now, both in finished figure and kit form. Heck, isn't 95% of John Jenkins current catalog, and sales volume made up of French and Indian War subjects?

Prost!

The Franco-Prussian War would be an area I would love to see done by Britains in their new style. Heck, they're almost their with their outstanding 1914 French infantry. A few uniform, equipment, and weapons changes and voila, you have the French Army of 1870. Add a few white gaiters and we're off and running. -- lancer
