Some ideas for warbirds (1 Viewer)

These are all from my recent visit to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford

(1) The Junkers - great looking plane, would look good with those German paras some of you collect

(2) Hurricane - version II, chocks away,

(3) Lancaster Bomber - very iconic

(4) Flying Fortress - this is the only one left in flying service

(5) Mustang - very cool looking

(6) Warhawk (this one survived Pearl Harbour)

and finally .... I think someone had a diorama like this

I plan to visit some museums in Germany in October, wish I could also include the UK, but will have to wait for a future trip. During my travel planning, came across this website as a good reference to locating surviving Bf 109s today:

There are of course other sites, e.g. wikipedia, but this one gives a brief history of "white 4" on display at Duxford. In Germany, I plan to visit the tank museum in Munster, U-boat in Laboe, and the Berlin Technik Museum, which also has a Bf 109, and an un-restored Ju 87 stuka, recovered from Murmansk. Will definately post photos from the trip here.

I missed Duxford unfortunately my last visit but will go next time. Nice pictures. You mention the B17 is the last one in flying service? Is that just in England because there are several flying at airshows every summer here in the states.

I would buy a B-17 in any variant in a heartbeat!

Yeah the B-17, that is something I will definitely buy. But It probably cost twice as much as the hurricane at the very least. Figarti sells them, but At $899 . I was planning to get one for Christmas (But with all this Figarti Releases that are bordering in Greatness and perfection, That is but a dream now)

WOOD or POLYSTONE? Can only afford the last ones!

After the iconic Hurricane we will probably see a P51 (D).
A P38 has never been done in a large scale.
How about a Swordfish 'Floatplane' ; the little ones that Corgi made in 1/72
were real gems! Last but not least; a black Lysander 'spy express' .

I would guess the American planes will come much later and be introduced with or just before US airfield vehicles and figures. But you never know with K&C I would really expect an Me109 next followed by a Spitfire.

I know that KC doesn't do Pacific, but I would love to see some warbirds from there. A P-40B in Pearl Harbor or AVG colors; a Zero in early gray; Buffalo in Singapore defense colors; P-39 or P-400 in Guadalcanal livery; pre-Midway color F4F, SBD, and TBD. Just a dream, I know, but what the heck, eh? -- lancer

If you get to Munich you should visit the Alte Pinakothek Museum, it is

wonderful. Last time I was there there they had a twin engine german jet

bomber from the final days of WWII.
